The Annual FrankGrimes Torture Thread

*It helps that I live in Harrisburg instead of Seattle. I think the largest crowd I saw a film with recently was about 30 people. I think there was about 10 people in the theater when I saw The Dark Knight. Perfect.*

Cripes! Is Harrisburg really that small or do people just not dig on movies that much there (I know it looks bad, but I mean it in a sincere question way, not a snotty way)? Living here, it's hard to get my head around that idea. It must be nice to see a popular movie and not have to worry about sharing space with hundred of other people.

*I know more about classic film than contemporary film. Translation: I don't know a damn thing.*

Cough, cough. I will decline to comment. :)

*Minya,*

*They really do have a good film festival in Seattle, though, don't they? From what I remember it's the biggest stateside festival in terms of both films and duration. Have you ever attended any festival screenings?*

Yes, SIFF is huge. It's been interesting to watch it grow from being a smallish but popular show to the extravaganza it is now. I've seen a few things, but I tend to shy away from large crowds (the aforementioned people being unable to sit still and be quiet for the length of a movie) so most of the times I will avoid it. I used to know a guy who would save up all his vacation time and use it to go to SIFF and he would see almost everything they offered.

When I was in high school, they used to do some midnight movie screenings and one year they did a 3-D Horror festival-The Fantastic Invasion of Planet Earth, Andy Warhol's Frankenstein, House of Wax and Dial M for Murder. There was a break after AWF and someone was so inspired by a particularly gory scene in the movie that they took the opportunity to go to the nearby grocery store and buy several packages of raw liver, which they then proceeded to pelt the audience with. We were all so jacked on No Doze and sugar that it seemed pretty hilarious. Good times. Then we all went to Denny's for breakfast. :)

Well, it sounds like fun. More fun even than the average *RHPS* showing. At any rate, I totally agree with you about all the obnoxious behaviour of many moviegoers these days, and it's a shame. You know things have changed when the policy trailers will sometimes remind viewers there's no texting allowed during the movie.

Scotty, glad you aren't mad at me after the green dye in the cake left your skin the same color. Hope your family didn't take offense either. I'm sure both grandmas gave you a big kiss and hugs after all.

Barb, I did not make the cake but it is certainly giving me ideas. I'm not the baking type but seeing the various forms of how I can gross someone out puts a smile on my face. After all, the mummy was made of pure chocolate. Who wouldn't want to rip a chunk out of it? I really don't eat cakes but I'd try it for the overdose.

I'm assuming this is for Miss Greer's birthday?

Yes, today is Butterscotchy's birthday! Why I'd wish to celebrate the birthday of a girl who does nothing but strangle me with her long black gloves and drown me in boiling hot chocolate and command ephalents to trample me is beyond me. Why I'd care to send my kindest and warmest greetings to a girl who likes trashy stuff like Gary Cooper, Greer Garson, and Celine Dion is something I'll never know. Maybe it's because she's such a sweet and darling girl. Naaahhh. :P

So every Friday at work, a small group of us has a Google Off-someone chooses a theme or a phrase and whoever comes up with the best image wins (we all get bored easily some days). So I googled Butterscotch Greer and this is one of the pictures I found:

Photobucket

I think the purple frou frou things is what you should wear to the ball. :) Bringing the cat with the matching frou frou is optional.

I thought your birthday was next week. I'm glad somebody remembered, even if it was old Frank :P. I'll try and call you later if I get a chance but we've got a lot of errands to run this afternoon and we're just about to head out. I've got all your presents ready to go and we'll do something fun next weekend. Our house should mostly be back in order by then too and after all this remodeling, it will be nice to have some sense of normalcy again.

Which way is the party?

I found you a date for the ball, you'll have to excuse the fact that he seems to be missing his shirt ;).

And I will wear Rita Hayworth's dress from *Gilda*. Or should I use Audrey Hepburn's dress from *My Fair Lady*? Oh - I know! How about Natalie Wood's dress from *West Side Story* ?
