The Annual FrankGrimes Torture Thread

Well hello fellow colorist, lol! Do you look like Harlow with the Irridescent Platinum? Have you ever gone Moira Shearer or Maureen O'Hara red?

Well, guess what, Miss G., and everyone?

I love the Belgian Waffle!

I'm thrilled with the results; if I do say so myself, my instincts were right on with this shade (although I'm sure luck played a part)

It was true to the color when applied to the walls, and not darker, either. It's a buttery, warm, golden hue, not beige-y at all, thank heavens. My neighbor Marie's grandson and his friend Nate (19 and 20 years old, respectively) were the painters and they were cool dudes. I asked them what music they liked to work to; they replied "country rock" so that's what they got, turned up loud. I left, knowing I was in good hands (and not wanting to be hovering over them) to visit my mother for two hours, and when I returned, my living room and hallway were already glowing! I went out again for lunch and to take care of some errands and came back and they were finishing up!

A beautiful job. They must have prepped and stripped and cleaned and primed really quickly (I don't much about this process; or should I say, anything at all) because the work was finished in about 6 hours for the living room, hallway, bathroom, and bedroom. (I do have a wee apt.) Marie says she's going to paint my kitchen herself in the garden-green she has that I admired. (she loves working on projects)

So this evening I'll be able to put back my wall decor, but everything else has returned to it's rightful place, and I'm at peace. (for the moment, anyway)

Thankfully, it seems that ole Ike won't be a-botherin' us here in Boca, except for heavy rain and thunderstorms tomorrow and Tuesday, but that just means someone else will be hit by this hurricane, most likely the Gulf region unfortunately, as if they didn't have enough on their plate.

It's a gorgeous day today, so I'm going for lunch with friends near the beach now.

See all you guys later tonight.

Youthfully yours,

Hallie/Lady Amber Lucia Bronx-Doniphon-Colman

That's wonderful news, Bronxie. I'm glad everything came out just as you wished. Your place

sounds very vibrant.

I'm also relieved to know Ike is going to miss your area. My area was soaked yesterday thanks to Hannah. We needed the rain... badly. It's a gorgeous day here today; sunny and in the low-80s.

I'll catch up with you this week, Hallie/Lady Amber Lucia Bronx-Doniphon-Colman.

Hello, "Rosie", LOL, just kidding. You can "tackle" anything, right?

I'm waiting for the wisdom to kick in myself.

I shouldn't hold my breath.

I'm going to lunch on the beach now to celebrate this lovely day.

Not ONE gray hair will ever touch my head, because I'm vain and probably insecure.

No bacon on the walls, and no syrup, just the most beautiful light-honeyish "waffle", that will look more glowing and charming when the holidays roll around and all the candles (and the Xmas tree) is lit!

Talk to you later this evening.

Barb

I'm gathering your Bday list to start collecting the "items". Can I put black boots on Alan Ladd to go along with his kilt? Great choice on Ronald Colman by the way. Have an exciting day at the beach and if you find Sebastian, give him my regards.

Scotty, did you have bad flooding in your area? It was crazy around here but I was enjoying the rain as always.

Hiya, J-Girl! -- Scotty, did you have bad flooding in your area?

We got about an inch of rain, so no flooding, thankfully. Do you know how much rainfall

you got?

It was crazy around here but I was enjoying the rain as always.

Cephy!

I've been meaning to thank you for the lovely cakes and the Grace pic. Those cakes were crazy!

I'll be getting caught up with you this week, too. I just wanted to make sure Minya and Butterscotch received the kind birthday wishes they deserved, because they weren't going to

get any from me. :P

Hi Barb-

tackle" anything

Oh..only on a good day. :-) But when it comes to dealing with trouble..I like to try and tackle it before it tacklles me....sometimes it doesn't always work out that way. :-) Glad to hear your decorating skills have paid off so well....I may need your help some day. I think I am being sophisticated if I paint with any color but white. :-) There are so many things that go into choosing colors and patterns and textures...it sounds like you have the knack.

Enjoy your day!!

metsie, Alan Ladd would look good in a paper sack. I don't care what he's wearing, even in drag I'm guessing he'd be hot.

Who could go wrong with Smithy? (I hear my crablet wincing)

I sent Sebastian your regards. My beach lunch was a gas. (and I think it gave me some too...)

Aww, just get me diamonds for my natal day. That's what I REALLY want, lol. The chocolate ice cream soda and the Nancy Drew -- that's all a simplistic cutesy front for the fact that I'm really a Material Girl.

Hi, Kathy! You sound so young in your posts, I honestly thought you were in your 20's! Thanks for your kind regards; I had a fun beach lunch, ate much more than I should, and I'm supposed to be on this Cosmo egg, steak and white wine crash diet but I still haven't gotten around to it yet;

I've been using the impending hurricane(s) as an excuse, and now I suppose I'm telling myself that Josephine is the next tropical storm that might become a 'cane and smash us, so I "need" to fortify myself with buttered sourdough bread, potatoes with sour cream, coconut ice cream, etc.

Actually white can be quite sophisticated when paired with black; it makes a bold modern statement. I'm flattered you'd want my decorating help, but better you should watch HGTV for the best tips.

I'm addicted to that show, even the re-runs. I get a lot of inspiration from them, and also Country Living magazine, which I subscribe to.

It's a great mag, they have such creative homeowners, I just love reading it every month. Every time a new issue comes in the mail, I get so excited. It's like candy!

Have a nice night,

Lurv,

Barb

Thanks, Goddess! Yep, that's my wall color, lol! Darn, I'm hungry again, and after my piggy lunch. Whenever I see even a picture of a waffle or pancake, I want them.

We do have Josephine churning in the Atlantic.

Veronica was real tiny ("just as high as your heart" she says as witch Jennifer to clueless Fredric March in I MARRIED A WITCH) and I guess no one could fill her shoes (literally as well as figuratively, lol) But I do believe Alan would look quite fetching in that iconic Lake hairstyle.

Hello there Ms Interior Decorator...thanks for saying I sound young...I will take youth in whatever form I may yet still possess it. :-) I saw something on PBS tonight...and as much as I enjoyed it...I couldn't help but think of you, Miss G and Frank...

Celtic Thunder...I've seen this on PBS before and we stopped and watched it again tonight because the music is just terrific. But I am cracking up at how much this site has turned up in my non-movie watching moments, because when it was playing on the tv...I kept having these little thoughts of all of you....I really enjoyed their singing (the short person did too--andFrank this is why I though of you--your question the other night about teaching her to sing in Gaelic--it wasn't all Irish music..but there was a definite Irish theme going on) and all the male band members wore kilts. (ladies--this is why I thought of you!) :-) The singers all wore kilts during the last song as well.

Enjoy:

Watch this young kid....totally awesome! (Barb..hanging around kid so much--I will likely still be using that word when I'm 80!! ) :-)

Hello, my baby sloth who is so lazy it can't take the time to eviscerate a mummy. "Thanks" to you, Imhotep's soul is now cursed for eternity.

Do you want this on your conscience?? I mean, one 5,000 year old creature should help another.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spumoni

I could have just said it's pistachio, strawberry and chocolate ice cream, but I felt you needed a more detailed explanation.

Yes, Sir Lancelot follows me around the classroom, lol. He also strums this little ditty: "In a PA town there dwells a man, who to everyone is a big noir fan, he doesn't like pepper and he hates Greer Garson, so no woman and him will ever see a parson".

Yes, I'll bring you into class tomorrow. Your letter will be Z.

You know, "zzzzzzzz".

You are now talking to a new and rabid Ray Dennis Steckler fan.

I saw THE INCREDIBLE STRANGE CREATURES WHO STOPPED LIVING AND BECAME MIXED UP ZOMBIES, and RAT PFINK A BOO BOO. (my favorite!) Now I want to see everything he's ever done.

This guy is the king of low-budget improv!

The bike and the green sweater girl I feel are coming closer to you, in October. I see leaves swirling about you, I see newspapers, I see Nancy Drew, I see a sidewalk.

Don't worry, you'll live another 5,000 years. Of course, the Earth might be gone so you'll have to relocate to Pluto.

kathy, you're.....AWESOME! Although if I hear that word one more time issued by 20-somethings after the big reveal of their re-decorated houses on HGTV, I might get sick, lol, but it definitely puts the "youth" in youthful, and that's what I want to appear, never mind that it's all going to catch up with me and I'll wake up a wrinkled mess tomorrow morning.

I love CELTIC THUNDER; thanks!!! Ever since Riverdance re-vitalized the Celtic spirit, I've gravitated towards this culture -- Irish, Scot, and Welch. Aww, that boy was so cute!

Thank goodness you didn't lump me in with the Kilty Pleasures. Y'all can have your men wearing skirts as much as you like, pilgrim.

So the wee one enjoyed "Celtic Thunder." That brought a smile to my face. :)

I was looking for another cursed soul to join me. And if one is to join me, they are most certainly cursed. :D

I could have just said it's pistachio, strawberry and chocolate ice cream, but I felt you needed a more detailed explanation.

I had no idea what spumoni was, but now I do thanks to you. The spumoni salentini looks pretty good to me.

Whoever this fella is, he seems rather smart. :P

I only know of The Incredible Creatures Who Stopped Living and Became Mixed Up Zombies because of Mystery Science Theater 3000.

The bike and the green sweater girl I feel are coming closer to you, in October. I see leaves swirling about you, I see newspapers, I see Nancy Drew, I see a sidewalk.

I see trouble. Newspapers?

Don't worry, you'll live another 5,000 years. Of course, the Earth might be gone so you'll have to relocate to Pluto.

That's my current location. :D

Bang, Bang, Annie Laurie Starr -- Did you get that wild red rose dress of yours yet? Are you ready for Nick Cave?

It helps that I live in Harrisburg instead of Seattle. I think the largest crowd I saw a film with recently was about 30 people. I think there was about 10 people in the theater when I saw The Dark Knight. Perfect.

Cripes! Is Harrisburg really that small or do people just not dig on movies that much there (I know it looks bad, but I mean it in a sincere question way, not a snotty way)?

The population size of Harrisburg is about 50,000 but the entire area of Harrisburg is about 650,000. The city is spread out. There are enough theaters in the area that you can avoid crowds. I'd also say that most of the theatergoers I usually encounter at 10:00 PM are younger. But, then again, I'm 5,000 years old.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harrisburg,_Pennsylvania#Public_schools

Living here, it's hard to get my head around that idea. It must be nice to see a popular movie and not have to worry about sharing space with hundred of other people.

It really is. But everyone is different. I know of some who'd rather experience the feel of a crowd. I'm the opposite. I'd rather watch the film in a quiet theater. I'm not a "crowds" kind of person in general. I cannot imagine living in a big city.

And did Minya mention something about an Arabian Nights Bordello Fire Pit? Hmmmmm...

I did. It all started with a scimitar. I may post a picture on the torture thread, but it's still a work in progress. I guess this house just lends itself to themed rooms.

A scimitar? Geez, I'm learning a lot of things on this thread. Can I use your scimitar to eat some spumoni?

I don't think your house lends itself to themed rooms, I believe it's the crazy inhabitant. :P

the wee one enjoyed "Celtic Thunder

She did indeed. I'm not necessarily a "kilt" devotee to the same degree as my friends here...but I will say --some folks can wear them better than others, and for those who can carry it off...it is a nice look. ( I think I prefer the plaid styles better than the solid black in the youtube video I posted)

But the "wee one" is not yet on the same page with the whole Kilt thing as of yet...she took one look at those guys and said...

"MOM....men DO NOT wear dresses!"

But don't worry April and Barb...I have a feeling she will catch on soon enough.

I will say that it takes a man to wear a skirt into town, and it takes an interesting woman to walk with him.

The Duke would be proud.
