Bronxgirl48
jackie, I think you're on to something about tall men and their skinny legs with the kilts.....it completely destroys the sex appeal for me.
Bronxgirl48
It's a wonder I'm deigning to post to you since I have seen the mountaintop, the pinnacle of appealing gentlemanly maleness.....little did I know that way before RANDOM HARVEST, Ronald Colman had not only sensitive charm but dramatic depth as an actor that makes me want to compulsively watch him. I caught CYNARA last night and now it's official -- not only is Colman my all-time favorite male sex symbol, but he's now at the top of my fave actor list as well. Sigh....I also had some erotic dreams about him after that movie. I remember him fondly in THE LATE GEORGE APLEY and LOST HORIZON too. Would like to see THE LIGHT THAT FAILED (with Ida as a bonus) Wish TCM would run A DOUBLE LIFE, and also make my baby SOTM. I had a pleasant surprise at school -- four new students from Vietnam joined my class. I'm learning a bit of their language. We have a lot of fun, because I'm a bit of a ham (in order to make the lessons lively and keep everyone, including me, from getting bored) I asked everyone to draw themselves as a vegetable, then spell their choice out. Next they drew me. For some reason, I'm a sweet potato. I yam what I yam. Message was edited by: Bronxgirl48

I won't give it away, but it's really very moving. To me, it's very Fordian. Helen Hayes is sweet and a game girl, she and Ronald have a very believable relationship. *Myrna Loy* has a small part in her one and only Ford film appearance. Bronxgirl48
Oh, I can't wait to see it! And that great photo of him in the film -- his eyes just go straight to your heart. My mother loves him too. She enjoyed TROUBLE IN PARADISE and CYNARA. (TIP sublime)
MissGoddess
Did you and your mom watch them together? How nice! I'm so glad she liked them, too. Was it your first time seeing TIP?
Bronxgirl48
I called her and told her to watch TROUBLE IN PARADISE. (I've seen it before; love Miriam, Kay and Herbert; sparkling, sparkling!) She usually goes to bed at 10 p.m. but she couldn't miss Ronnie in CYNARA so she stayed up for that too and was glad of it. MissGoddess
That's so wonderful that she likes these films, too. I wouldn't dare suggest so old a movie to my mother. I think she'd like some films noir, though. She likes things violent and dark. Don't ask me how she spawned me! Did you say whether or not you watched *Raffles* last week, I forget? Bronxgirl48
No, I missed RAFFLES; I inadvertently forgot to even check the schedule for it. My mother hates horror and noir, unfortunately, so we don't share that viewing experience. But if there's a Bette Davis, Joan Crawford movie on, she's got to see it. She's going to bed early tonight but of course I'm staying up for THREE COMRADES. Message was edited by: Bronxgirl48
MissGoddess
I like your mother's tastes. I think Frank is my mother's illigitimate son. I shudder to think of what that implies. Have you seen Three Comrades before? Are you ready with plenty of Kleenex?

FrankGrimes
You look to be more her spawn than I do, SPAWN! That's "Deadly" Spawn to you, Bad Seed. And don't you blame Elke for your trashiness. She tried but you chose to watch horrid stuff like Gone with the Wind. What's a mom to do? My mother hates horror and noir, unfortunately, so we don't share that viewing experience. But if there's a Bette Davis, Joan Crawford movie on, she's got to see it. You see, Bronxie has it right. Hold on a minute. Scratch that. She just spoke of her new found love of Ronald Colman. Are there no gals with taste on this board? What has happened? MissGoddess
Boy is it ever! *Three Comrades* belongs on any Top 10 Weepies List. It's the one that turned my opinion on Margaret Sullavan. Before this film I couldn't stand her. I think her love affair with Robert Taylor is very sweet. He was still "green" enough to pull off that kind of boyish naivite contrasted with a worldy wise woman.
Bronxgirl48
My love for Ronald has been unconsciously simmering for many decades, but these message boards have awakened its full power. Do not speak ill of him, or you'll wake up as a porcupine fish in my clubhouse's aquarium. All I have to do is twitch my nose.
