If you ever get a chance to watch *Communion* I highly recommend it, especially if you like the idea of a wacky movie about people-snatching aliens and UFO's paying a visit to Christopher Walken, making him even more wacky along the way. It practically begs for the Mystery Science Theater 3000 treatment. ;)

And I also loved Ruck as Cameron, particularly that crazy look he gets on his face when Ferris wrecks his dad's convertible, it's priceless. I can't even remember how many times we watched that movie back in high school. B-)

Whoa, be still, my heart!

It's been 20 years since I've used a VCR; now that I have one, I'm trying to figure out how to use it again, because I won't be home this evening and want to record STARS IN MY CROWN. I also missed those early a.m. better Kays because of this, and also Karloff in THE GHOUL.

See you later; I'm watching my Paulie overact in A SONG TO REMEMBER. (for an excellent interpretation of an absent-minded professor, Paul Lukas in the '33 LITTLE WOMEN is the benchmark; one of my favorite screen performances)

allergies

Hello there Barb!! You have my sympathies on the allergies.

Living as I do in the Ragweed Capital of the World..I can only say...AH--CHOO!

As far as I'm concerned, the first good heavy freeze ought to be declared a national holiday. :-) But you probably have a bit longer of a wait for that way down south. At least out here we get the winter to recover from all the Fall allergies before Spring comes along and starts kicking everybody in the pants again. How do you guys get buy out in the land of sunny beaches and such?? With no frost to kill the allergies??? Maybe THAT's what the Hurricanes are for???? To blow out all the dust and pollen????) Ok--I never said Science was my strongest subject :-)

But seriously..hope you are on the mend soon. :-)

_Scotchie_, did you see that Greer and Walter were on this morning in *Scandal at Scourie* and

that they are showing several of Walter's films? *If Winter Comes* is on now and I wish I'd

recorded it because I like it. I believe Paul Muni did an earlier version.

yes i saw that it was on this morning, unfortunately, i was getting ready for school. i wish i could have watched it. i just love them in this movie. they are in technicolor and truely in love....again. heehee! this is one of the ones i particularly favor, b/c it really shows their relationship throughout the movie along with adopting a little girl outside their religion, and then it is tested from the people in their town getting on their case...tsk, tsk, thats horrible. i thought it was sweet, they adopted her! to see the lok on greer's face when she did.....aawwwww!!!

i knew paul muni did an earlier version of If Winter Comes, but i havent seen it in a while. i think, if im not wrong, gramdmama has a copy of it in her library, but i have to ask. but i dont exactly remember if that was it or not. now i have to do it, or else it will bother me. heehee! i didnt particularly like If winter Comes though, they make Walter out to be this bad person when he really isnt in the movie, falsely accusing him of things. i just didnt like it, it made me too sad, but i still respect the movie, b/c it was put together with great hands and there is great acting by walter, janet leigh, and deborah kerr. i thought they made a cute couple, but i think he was paired better with greer....my opinion of course. heehee! i just think they were one of the cutest couples around! ;)

Wasn't Angela in it, too? I thought I saw her playing the mean wife, or was that Deborah? I

didn't have time to look closely. It is a depressing film (both versions are, in fact).

How many cups? I'm on my second but I think I need to switch to coffee, I need caffeine!

yes angela is in it too, and thats actually one of the main head reasons i wanted to see the movie, but they made her so mean! she played this cruel wife and i wanted her to be deborah's part! although i would never put down poor deborah kerr, i just wanted angela to get with walter this time. banana oil! but she was reallllllllly pretty in it. heehee!

*Scandal at Scourie* is kind of a guilty pleasure for me, obviously I adore Greer and Pidgeon working together, and le tr?s jolie jeune fille is so adorable, and the Technicolor in the movie is so nicely done! Naturally I had to record it, of course! B-)

Hiya, Too Naughty -- I really like that one photo of Smithy getting ready

to strangle Paula with the necklace. That's my favorite scene!

you looked at the picture and saw hat in their eyes!!

That's what happens!

you need glasses frankie, not trying to be mean or anything. heehee! seriously,

though, look into their eyes, they are so in love they dont even know it

themselves!

They're not in love. That was an "arranged" marriage.

"charles" gave her that nacklace for a reason, he loved her, he just wasnt surely

why he loved her so muhc.

He was merely giving her a gift of appreciation. There was no sentiment attached to it.

Even SHE knows that. It's you who needs their eyes checked, Silly Goose.

he knew he loved her that much for a reason... this is why he sough out that

reason by going back to the asylum to trace his steps. so there! dont ruin my

philosophy, i worked hard on it. heehee!

He went back to asylum to find more victims. That's where his murderous heart's at.

Say what? You can't find a trashier film than Pride and Prejudice. It's filthy.

"silence in this case, would have been more agreeable." ~Elizabeth herself. heehee!

Spoken just like a snob with her nose in the air. I'm used to this kind of talk. :P

dahlink, april is not a pretend doll! she is real! and she will summon the ephalents

to trample you if you think otherwse...ill get the caramel! thats right, you better be

scared!! heehee!

Your pretend doll is a witch? Now I've heard it all.

second of all, P&P is not a trashy film fit to teach girls snobbery! that happens

to be false accusation.

It's one of the filthiest films I have ever seen. I cannot believe TCM plays it. I worry for

the poor young girls who happen to watch this trash and then grow up to be snobs.

it is about not judging your future husband before you kiss him. heehee! not really.

Not really is right. She judges him more than anyone.

its much more than that, but in this case, especially in that picture, Elizabeth is

being snobbish, b/c she has too!

She "has to"? Thank you Jane Austen for creating another snobby girl. And a snobby

girl from Texas is the worst.

she is telling him the way it is and the snobbish way he was being toward her and

her sisters, even thought he did so inadvertently, so there!

That's because EVERYONE in a Jane Austen story is a snippy snob. You have to watch

film noir to find some warmth.

THEYRE IN LOVE FOR CRYING OUT LOUD!! they must at least practice

communicational skills. heehee!

So a girl who turns her back on a man with her nose sticking straight up in the air is

"communicating"? I guess in the world of Jane Austen it is. It's no wonder there are no

more nice girls left.

i love watching that scene and repeating every line she says to him.......he

needed a good talking too....like a frankie i know around here...

You have your back turned right now, don't you? Why can't you be a nice girl?

yay! Michaela! heehee! i agree wholeheartedly, i was so dissappointed when i found out this movie didnt do so well in box office, its such a cute movie that i always enjoy watching. it always lifts my spirits, especially when i see greer and walter laughing out loud in the garden and kissing of course. that little girl is soooo cute! i think her name was Donna Corcoran, and i knew her from somewhere before i knew this movie. she is! she was also in Dangerous When Wet, Million Dollar Mermaid, Dont Bother to Knock, and Angels in the Outfield. she was just all around the place. heehee! obviously walter knew her well, b/c she was in two of his movies. i thought her chemistry with greer was impecible and i love watching them together, always will!

i love when she says repeatedly, "youre an unpimpled liar!" thats too cute! heehee!

I also love it when they sing "Fr?re Jacques"! :x

When I was a little girl I listened to a lot of French children's songs, like "Alouette" and "Sur le Pont D'Avignon". So it kinda brings back old memories! B-)

I loved the technicolor- Greer's hair was so gorgeously colored. I liked seeing Rhys Williams- he is a favorite of mine. I pretty much like any movie he is in. Ian Wolfe was not playing a butler, so that was really something different! The whole thing was very sweet, and shows what a couple of pros like Pidgeon and Garson could do with fairly standard material.

I have unfortunately been falling asleep during every movie I wanted to see lately. My daughter coughed and coughed all night long so all I got were bits and pieces of movies. Stars in my Crown started out great, but then about the time that Alan Hale was helping Juano Hernandez rebuild his farm, Kay Francis and William Powell came around the corner, being chased by Warren Hymer. They were spending a romantic night, before going back to San Francisco to fight with Robert Taylor in the Civil War! I really have got to see a movie all the way through one of these days.

I agree about Greer's hair, it is the most beautiful fiery red and it's absolutely gorgeous - I would love to have such marvelous hair.

I'm sorry that you have not been quite awake for some of these movies, hopefully they will be shown again someday soon, if you did not get a chance to record.
