Trump could’ve been impeached on floating pardons alone.

Weissman also describes the perpetual fear Trump would shut them down — which led them to skip interviews with Ivanka and Don Jr. And he says Trump dangling his pardon power allowed resistant witness like Manafort to lie constantly. https://theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2020/09/andrew-weissmann-mueller-book-where-law-ends/616395/

Just watched excellent interview with

. Weissmann was thoughtful and direct.

But I came away boiling, once again, at the manifold failures of Mueller and their costs.

Whether motivated by decency or not, he profoundly let down the American people.

More importantly, Weissman made it clear, yet again, that Trump, with the help of Barr and McConnell, made obstruction of justice the central organizing principle of this Administration.

The entire executive branch was focused on protecting Russia and hiding Trump's many crimes........

Mueller defends Russia probe amid criticism from top prosecutor

In a rare public statement, the former special counsel said he was disappointed to “hear criticism of our team based on incomplete information.”

Rober Mueller's staff wiped clean smartphones before returning them to DOJ

Mr. Weissmann was one of Mr. Mueller’s most prominent prosecutors. He led the prosecution of Donald Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort. Now an MSNBC legal analyst, Mr. Weissmann has attacked Mr. Trump and given advice on how to remove him from office.

He turned in his phone in March 2018. It was clean. The Justice Department documents say “entered password too many times and wiped his phone.”
