If Saul Bass Did Star Wars...

I'm a fan of the title work of Saul Bass, some of my favorites including It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad, World, Vertigo, North by Northwest, Anatomy of a Murder, and The Man with the Golden Arm. I love the simple but powerful graphic style that has become his trademark.

Here's a video that humorously suggests the Star Wars titles had they been created by Saul Bass: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z25t-PQDn5A&feature=related.

It does reflect his 1960's style art form. If they have not already done so, there should be a museum that shows enlarge stills of Saul Bass art form from his movie title work.

This is true art on its own and should be preserve. Saul is a genuis.

Your comment got me to wonder if there are any books on Saul Bass. I checked Amazon and found that Pat Kirkham and Martin Scorcese are creating a hardcover, Saul Bass, that will be released in December 2008. A bit of a wait there.

It looks like there are a few others out there that are either unavailable (through Amazon) or very pricey.
