The Grissom Gang

I just watched this the other day on DVD.

Directed by Robert Aldrich, it is an adaptation of "No Orchids for Miss Blandish." Kim Darby is the heroine, and Scott Wilson is the gangster who falls in love with her.

Oddly, I don't know what to think about this film. It opens like a champ, and it concludes like a champ. There are some good scenes in the middle, but at 2 hours + it just feels too long. However, it also seemed too short, as some stuff pertaining to the kidnapping seemed omitted for no good reason.

The performances range widely in quality. In particular, I didn't like the actress who played Ma Grissom. She seemed to have wandered in from the "Batman" TV series.

Has anyone else seen this and have an opinion about it?
