futurehwooder
Can any suggest a reliable location to find box-office figures? Internet, book, whatever... Specifically, I'm looking for box-office for The Barefoot Contessa (1954), but I's welcome any general knowledge of direction....
markfp2
While there are some websites that will give you grosses for recent films, I don't know of any that reports on classics. However, there's a movie trade magazine called Boxoffice which has been around for something like 80 years. Now, they only publish monthly, but up until the last 15 or 20 years they were publishing weekly and use to report grosses for all films. You might try asking them if they can give you the grosses for THE BAREFOOT CONTESSA. I don't know if they will, but it can't hurt to ask. There website is [boxoffice.com] Good luck. Minoltaman
The trade magazine "BOXOFFICE" for that era is sometimes offered on eBay. I would look for any 1954 edition and ask the seller, should there be one, if that edition contains the gross for this film. At one time I owned all the editions from the fifties, but have sold them in recent days.Only ones left now are from the seventies....Good Luck

Jayo
I don't know when they began including B. O. figures, but there's always Variety, available on microfilm in many large libraries. Check Worldcat for the library nearest you.
