The Mexican citizens should ask their politicians why they allowed the caravan to cross the Guatemala border?  And it's much smaller than ours with Mexico.

The politicians probably knew the caravan was going to the US so they said to themselves "not our problem."

Mexico’s Immigration Law: Let’s Try It Here at Home

Even the wart is finally catching on. :o Unfortunately, it's too little, too late.

Hillary Clinton: Europe must curb immigration to stop rightwing populists

Europe must get a handle on immigration to combat a growing threat from rightwing populists, Hillary Clinton has said, calling on the continent’s leaders to send out a stronger signal showing they are “not going to be able to continue to provide refuge and support”.

In an interview with the Guardian, the former Democratic presidential candidate praised the generosity shown by the German chancellor, Angela Merkel, but suggested immigration was inflaming voters and contributed to the election of Donald Trump and Britain’s vote to leave the EU.

“I think Europe needs to get a handle on migration because that is what lit the flame,” Clinton said, speaking as part of a series of interviews with senior centrist political figures about the rise of populists, particularly on the right, in Europe and the Americas.

“I admire the very generous and compassionate approaches that were taken particularly by leaders like Angela Merkel, but I think it is fair to say Europe has done its part, and must send a very clear message – ‘we are not going to be able to continue provide refuge and support’ – because if we don’t deal with the migration issue it will continue to roil the body politic.”

That's all she ever cares about - what's good for her and her fellow neoliberals' election chances.

All that caring and angst over poor, frightened migrants is just smoke up our *****.

Hundreds of Google Employees Tell Bosses to Cancel Censored Search Amid Worldwide Protests

"More than 445 Google employees have signed an open letter calling on the company to abandon its plan for a censored search engine in China, as protesters took to the streets in eight cities to condemn the secretive project.

The letter was published Tuesday morning, signed by a group of 11 Google engineers, managers, and researchers. By early evening, a further 230 employees had added their names to the letter in an extraordinary public display of anger and frustration with Google’s management over the censored search plan, known as Dragonfly.

The search engine was designed by Google to censor phrases about human rights, democracy, religion, and peaceful protest, in accordance with strict censorship rules enforced by China’s authoritarian government......

a petition calling on Google to cancel the censored search engine. The group said in a statement that the platform would “irreparably damage internet users’ trust” in Google

and “set a dangerous precedent for tech companies enabling rights abuses by governments.” ...........

IHOP pulls ads from Tucker Carlson's show after immigration comments spark backlash

More than a dozen companies have stopped advertising since, according to various media reports. The first company to pull the plug was Pacific Life, which ran an ad shortly after Carlson's "dirtier" comment, The Washington Post reported. Others include Bowflex, Indeed and Ancestry.com.

Others, including Mitsubishi, Farmers Insurance and John Deere, have said they will not pull their ads from the show, and a Fox News spokesperson said Tuesday the yanked ads would be placed elsewhere within the network, meaning no revenue would be lost.

"We cannot and will not allow voices like Tucker Carlson to be censored by agenda-driven intimidation efforts," Fox News wrote in a statement, blaming left-leaning advocacy groups for pressuring advertisers....

Alleen Brown @AlleenBrown 6h6 hours ago

I interviewed more than a dozen pipeline opponents who were befriended by an undercover oil industry spy during the Standing Rock-led movement against the Dakota Access Pipeline. I’ve traced him from Iowa to North Dakota to Illinois.

---------------------------------------------------

THE INFILTRATOR....

A former Marine working for the private security firm TigerSwan infiltrated an array of anti-Dakota Access pipeline groups at Standing Rock and beyond. ..........

“I need you guys to start looking at the activists in your area and see if there are individuals who are vulnerable,” Joel McCollough later wrote to a small group of TigerSwan personnel. “They’re broke, always talking about needing gas money or whatever. Maybe they’re disillusioned, depressed a little. Life is **** them over,” the email continued. “We can buy them a bus ticket to any camp they want if they’re willing to provide intel.”

“We win no matter what. If they agree to inform for pay, we get intel. If they tell our pitchman to go **** himself/herself, the activist will start wondering who did take the money and it’ll cause conflict within the activist groups and it won’t cost us anything.”......

...the infiltration represented the lengths to which the oil and gas industry would go to protect its profits. In an era in which a growing body of scientific evidence prescribes a dramatic reduction in the burning of fossil fuels to stave off a nightmare climate scenario, the government’s unwillingness to protect her environmental nonprofit from subterfuge by a $4 billion corporation laid bare the soaring advantage the industry held against citizens fighting for a livable future. ........

Keeping It Civil:

How To Talk Politics Without Letting Things Turn Ugly

".......The experts also agree that asking questions is the most important part of the conversation. Tamerius recommends using open-ended and nonjudgmental questions.

For example, instead of saying, "How can you possibly overlook all the evidence on ...........?"

you might ask, "What experiences have shaped your thinking on this issue?"..

Don't attack someone's personal beliefs either, because as Tamerius explains, we have strong emotional attachments to them. .....

"Facts and figures rarely persuade," says Joyner.

Instead, she recommends "appealing to [others'] better angels rather than their inner statistician." .........

Abortion rights activists protest restrictive new laws across the country

Dozens of rallies and demonstrations were scheduled from coast to coast Tuesday afternoon.

"We are not going to allow them to move our country backward," Sen. Amy Klobuchar, D-Minn., told the crowd from a lectern near the high court.

Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, D-N.Y., Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., and Mayor Pete Buttigieg of South Bend, Indiana, also attended the Washington rally.

"I stand in solidarity with those across the country to #StoptheBans," Sen. Kamala Harris, D-Calif., tweeted, using the hashtag that unites all the events. "We will fight with everything we've got to protect a woman's right to make her own health care decisions."

Dozens of other #StopTheBans rallies at statehouses and city centers around the nation — as well as in Puerto Rico and Canada — were scheduled Tuesday.

Too bad, those 10 million people vote and that is the way it works.

Those 10 million more likely are Democrats and long since made their choice regarding voting.  Still the rules of impeachment does not include petition.

This is significant (maybe), but in reality what must happen is organizing at the grassroots level and ELECTING Democrats to State government and to the US House and US Senate.  And hopefully to the White House.

These protest will only be useful if they are held in states where GOP Senators are up for re-election in 2020 and only if a majority of voters protesting are independents or member of the GOP.   Such protest are only useful they can convince enough GOP Senators (it takes around 20) that to save their job they need to vote to convict Trump.

This Texas' Valedictorian's Mic Was Cut Off

Just As She Mentioned Trayvon Martin And Tamir Rice

Rooha Hagher tweeted that a teacher told her the speech would incite anger toward white people.

"The valedictorian at a Dallas high school graduation said the principal cut off her microphone midspeech as she mentioned the names of unarmed black boys who were fatally shot.

In a video that's now gone viral on Twitter, Rooha Hagher can be seen giving her speech at Emmett J. Conrad High School's graduation ceremony.

"To Trayvon Martin, Tamir Rice, and all the other children who became victims of injustice," she says into the microphone.

Behind her, Principal Temesghen Asmerom can be seen motioning with his hands.

Then Hagher's mic goes silent....

"When I first read my speech to my teacher a week ago, I was told mentioning those names will incite anger towards white people, a group which according to him experience high levels of discrimination in America," Hagher wrote in a statement .....

Meanwhile, on Twitter, people are praising Hagher for her refusal to be censored.

And they've also noted that her getting cut off has given her speech a much bigger audience......

I was not posting about protests, but rather about organizing at the grassroots level to get better people elected to offices.  I don't see that it is possible to convince 20 of the current GOP senators that they need to vote to convict Trump.
