I'm new here so I don't know if eveyone likes people posting things like this because everyone is so spread out but, for anyone who lives near Aurora,Illinois the next four Tuesdays in February, actually last week too, the Paramount Theater is showing free screenings of four movies.

All movies start at 7:30 P.M.

This Tuesday the 3rd is "North by Northwest"

then in order "Casablanca", "Dr. Zhivago", and "The Philadelphia Story"

The Paramount Theater has its own web site if you would like to check. I'm not sure of the exact address but if you search paramount theater Aurora Illinois you shouldn't have trouble.

Also Dr.Zhivago is the only one I haven't seen and was wondering what others thought about it?

You are in for a real treat with Dr. Zhivago. I loved the movie and thought the director, David Lean, and the screenwriters did a great job translating the book to the screen. Both Omar Sharif and Julie Christie were believable as the two main characters and the story is very engrossing. The music is terrific too. I've only seen it on the television screen. It is an epic and would look great on a theater screen. Just be prepared for a very long movie. I remember it being at least 3 hours long!

I agree. If you have an opportunity to see "Dr. Z." on the big silver screen, don't pass it up! As for the others, they are all such Classics that you will also not regret having seen them on the big silver screen. Many of us truly envy you! Please come back and share your feelings about them after seeing them. ML

Just saw "North by Northwest" on the big screen. It was already one of my favorites but it was better than I thought it might be. The crop plane scene was great, I also liked seeing the scene where they force him drink bourbon, everything was just bigger and better. There was a lady behind me though who in the beginning would say uh-oh or OH NO every other minute or so. Uh-oh uh-oh, I thought she might have the hiccups. I just tuned her out though and enjoyed the movie.

North by Northwest is perfect for the big screen. I'm glad you got to see it that way. I love that movie with all the outdoor scenes and especially the Mt Rushmore part. I wish theaters would show the classics more. I have to drive into Los Angeles to see any and that can take a bit of time. Was there a good turnout for North by Northwest?

It was a big theater used mainly for plays and concerts but it had to be close to half full, which might have been around two hundred people. Plus or minus. There were also people of all ages which was good to see and a lot more people my age than I thought would come.It was a fun time listening to the crowd react, you could tell a lot hadn't seen it before.
