Who Would You Like to See Featured as Star of the Month?

Recommended Posts

I'd love to see Thelma Ritter, James Gleason, and Dan Duryea as SOTM. They were all terrific actors who, at times, were able to outshine the star of the film. Each deserves to have their moment in the spotlight.

I'm not really tired of seeing the Rock Hudson-Doris Day comedies on TCM. Lover Come Back seems to be the only one of the three airing in the past year or so. However, there is on Rock Hudson film I'd love to see on TCM: Seconds. It's been a few years since I've seen it, but this film contains arguably Rock's best performance. A very memorable drama from John Frankenheimer.

Frank, I want you to work for TCM and program the Summer Under the Stars segment. I love many of your choices. As usual, I piggy back on your genius:

Actresses:

1. GLORIA GRAHAME: "The Big Heat" and...a www hell... EVERYTHING!

2. Joan Bennett (Bennett Sisters)

3. Carole Lombard: "Twentieth Century"

4. Veronica Lake: "So Proudly We Hail" (Look out, she's got a b...)

5. Madeleine Carroll "The 39 Steps" (Hey, I didn't say I was original).

6. Claire Trevor: "Key Largo"and "Murder, My Sweet" and "Born to Kill"

7. Kim Novak: "Vertigo" (But you knew that). Let me add "Strangers When We Meet"

8. Lizabeth Scott:"Desert Fury" & "The Strange Love of Martha Ivers" & "I Walk Alone" (Fourteen yeeers!!!)

9. Marie Windsor: "The Narrow Margin" and "The Killing" (Elisha Cook Jr. didn't stand a chance).

10. Simone Simon: "Maedchen in Uniform"

11. Maureen O'Hara: In technocolor and with a sword in her hand.

12. Thelma Ritter: "Pickup on South Street" and "Pillow Talk" (She'd make a good party girl...for Moscow).

13. Sylvia Sidney

14. Anne Baxter

15. Ella Raines: "Impact" "Tall in the Saddle" "So Proudly We Hail" and any film her dark beauty appeared in!

Nope, I didn't fill in all the actresses.

As far as actresses go I would like to see Doris Day again only because when she was the Star of month back in Jan 2003 they only aired 12 of her movies. I am surprised actually that she will be in Summer Under The Stars 2008 but why every year that she's on TCM always show Tunnel of love or close with Julie I will never understand. As far as someone who I have never seen as Star of the month I would like to see Joan Fontaine

Which way's it blowin', CineBaby? -- Frank, I want you to work for TCM and program the Summer Under the Stars segment. I love many of your choices.

Thanks, Lively Gal.

I'd only be allowed to program the late-night sked. It would get pretty damn dark around here. ;)

How about the sorely underrepresented Fox beauties...janet Gaynor, Loretta Young, Alice Faye, Linda Darnell, Gene Tierney, Anne Baxter, Jeanne Crain, Carmen Miranda, jean Peters, Mitxi Gaynor, sheree North, Marilyn, Jayne Mansfield.....not to mention the lesser lights there.
