*3.* The Reb finds an unconcious man in the desert, and uses the man's canteen to splash

his face to waken him. The man sputters awake, grousing, "What a terrible waste of good whiskey!" The Good Samaritan takes a swig and it is whiskey!

Not *Dances With Wolves*. That was about a _Union_ veteran.

*4.* 1950s film. The Mexican actress who played the Reb's Sioux bride did not speak English

well. Her lines were dubbed by an American actress who was on her way to a _big_ career.

*5.* The man who fired the Last Shot of the Civil War kept the shell casing and reloaded it. Carried it around as a memento. In the course of the story he crosses paths again with the Union soldier that he wounded with that shot. Near the end of the story, he uses the bullet

to end the suffering of a man who is being tortured by the Sioux.

Correct. A 1957 film. Rod Steiger as the ex-Reb with the Irish accent. Brian Keith as a Union

officer, Charles Bronson and J.C. Flippin(!) as Sioux braves. Mexican actress Sara Montial played Steiger's Sioux bride, with the uncredited Angie Dickenson dubbing her dialogue. Samuel Fuller directed, and put his stamp on it. An earlier poster came close, in that this film

was _ remade_ as *Dances With Wolves*. Worth the (1957) ticket price: J.C. Flippin as the alcoholic Sioux warrier who had "no stomach for politics." (over 1200 Views)

Eve's thread.
