10 clues to movie

This film marked the coming together of two superstars. Word had that they wanted to work together for years, but the opportunity never arose...until this excellent movie.

No, not POND, but one of the stars was in the film in question.

The film is a period piece and prominently features a passage from a poem by a famour English writer.

NO AND NO...I think we've established one of the stars is Hepburn...the other was English.

The poem is by Dreyden, the line..."Come grow old along with me, the best is yet to be"

Well, I guess that leaves out John Wayne and *Rooster Cogburn*?do you mean *Love Among the Ruins*, the TV-movie with Laurence Olivier?

*Nancy Goes to Rio* and the thread goes to you, lavender?I recorded it the other night?not great?but colorful and I do love Ann Sothern and Louis Calhern. Carmen Miranda was a bit over the top?and Jane Powell was adorable, maybe too adorable?excellent work?your turn?

Excellent guesses that fit the clue, but not the one I'm thinking about. ps- cmvgor- I was originally thinking about Ruby Gentry but changed my mind and went with this one instead.

 

2. Based on a novel by a Nobel Prize winning author.

Thanks for those responses all great, but not the one yet.

 

The author did not win the Pultizer for this novel.
