My knowledge of it is sketchy but here is what I know: It was filmed in color, and I remember there was a lot of tension between the two main characters- in one of the beginning scenes the woman meets the man in a hotel lobby and he doesn't want to but ends up taking her with him. The woman reminds me of Ava Gardner and the man of Robert Redford or Clark Gable. The film was set somewhere in Africa I suppose because the two leads are searching for and eventually find a large golden disk that they use to reflect the sunlight to a specific crevace in a dark tomb where some sort of treasure is concealed in the wall. I also remember that the woman takes a bath in a vertical bath tub that is in a tent or a hut, and the native maid laughs at her. I believe there is also a scene or something to do with them taking a plane and crashing or landing in a desolate area. I hope this recollection, though probably innacurate , will spark someone's memory. Any leads will be greatly appreciated as this subject has been nagging at my mind for quite a long time. path40a Posted February 24, 2004 Share Posted February 24, 2004 Some of the elements you describe sound like Mogambo (1953) with Clark Gable and Ava Gardner, in Africa. And, I believe there is a scene where natives laugh at Grace Kelly (who is somewhat out of her element in the jungle;- ) However, the large golden disk doesn't ring a bell nor do I remember a plane crash. I dont think this is the movie your seeking.It souneds more like King Solomons Mines with Richard Chamberlin.Not sure. Try imdb.com for a plot outline of this film. It might be of help. classicsfan1119 Posted February 24, 2004 Share Posted February 24, 2004 The disk that is moved around to pick up the sun, and reflect light where it's directed, thus opening up something, is found in "The Mummy" with Brandon Frasier, not Boris Karloff. The two main characters weren't necessarily Ava Gardner and Robert Redford or Clark Gable but their mannerisms were very similiar. The movie was in color, but the quality was rather poor I thought. I've really no inclination as to the year the movie was made, but I assume it must have been in the 50s or 60s.
