New Kid On This Block

Since I am a relative newby to the TCM forums, I feel somewhat compelled to make my position definite and to state my concerns or rather my lack of them. As a 16 year old, I appreciate that Turner Classic Movies is going to help me expand my knowledge of classic films. I'm grateful that my age wont be a hindrance and that any disadvantages I might be subject to are because of my incomplete knowledge, and not the year of my birth. I do feel that I am at a disadvantage, but a disadvantage of uncontrollable circumstance. I can't help how old I am, and though I regret the fact that I was not alive in the accurately named Golden Age, I can appreciate a great film without the fear of being discriminated against. Thank you, patrons of TCM for your enthusiastic kindness in assisting a new kid on the block.

Don't even worry about your age. I'm guessing that most members of this board, even the very very old ones, consider the best period to be before they were born. And with film preservation as good as it is, being younger mostly means that you'll have a longer span of history to appreciate.

Hello, Pedall, and welcome! You needn't worry; you don't have to be a supreme movie expert to post here. This is a pretty inclusive place. Hell, they let me in!

Welcome to the boards pedall. Believe me you are in the right place if your interested in classic movies and the great stars of yesteryear. Although we do discuss current stars and movies from time to time.

You will get a good education here and once you get to know most of the members you'll feel right at home.

Any questions that you have regarding the subject matter just fire away since we will be happy to oblige you.

Just relax and enjoy the many subjects on the boards and you can also participate in our trivia games which can be fun.

It's good to have you with us, Pedall! In all actuality, it's not the age of a person posting here that is important to us...it's only the degree of respect they show TCM and others who post here that matters. By the way, I am at the low end of being in my 60's, and I also have a very limited knowledge of LOTS of movies from the age of the Classics we discuss at this site. Like many people here, I haven't had the good fortune to see nearly as many Classic films as they have, but I'm working on it, just as you will be (smile). Jump into any discussion you're interested (and check out all the Forums) in so we get to know you better! ML

Welcome Pedall! It's nice to have you with us, and I'd also like to say that you don't need to feel self-conscience about your age. I'm 24 and have been interested in and watching the classics since I was about 3. In normal everyday life it's hard to find others who enjoy the classics like we do, but on these boards everyone's got the "Golden Age" under their skin, and just about everyone is knowledgeable and friendly. Have fun!

Welcome, newcomer! When I first came to this board a few months ago, I was more interested in finding people your age than people my age (26) and older. It's not that I avoid older folks, but rather that I feed off the enthusiasm and appealing "pre-knowledge" that I get from the best of younger folks. Now that you're here, rattle off some movies, actors and directors you're into!
