JackFavell
I just wanted it to be more about standing on your own two feet. I felt that they dwelled (dwelt? is that a word? spellcheck says it is) a little too much on the "getting a man" thing. It seemed to me that becoming more attractive to men was the prime topic of the movie, and that's not what I thought it was about. That being said, I love looking at the scenery, and the house is to die for!
Film_Fatale
I don't know, maybe I'd switched my brain off that evening... I just remember admiring the scenery and not really thinking much about the story. Diane Lane is such a charming actress, I'd enjoy watching her in just about anything. MissGoddess
Hey y'all...just popping in to cool off from my hot date with two of the most exciting men in town tonight (I'll kiss and tell tomorrow). I see the Maven jumped right in and started a class, that's cool! I hope it will be full and you'll all be there. I'm the one sitting in the back with the guys making spit balls. Now I think I need to go take a cold shower. Nighty nite!

rohanaka
I would love to hear what you think of The Devil and Daniel Webster. Hi Molo....I am looking forward to getting to this one maybe by the end of the week. I haven't had time to get to it as yet, but I remember it from highschool and would like to see the film. Will let you know when I get it watched. I would put it in and watch tonight, but I am going to go check out Rio Grande again instead...it's been a really long time since I watched that and I think it is coming on just late enough that I should manage to fall asleep right smack dab in the middle of it...if my record holds true. :-) (I hope not...am going to give it a good try anyway) I also wanted to tell you as a friend that someone on here is giving you REALLY bad advice (I won't say just who, but his name rhymes w/ "tank crimes") As for getting kicked off this thread, I believe your neck is safe. The key is to know that Pappy is crappy, Coopy is poopy, and Dukey is pukey. That will get you in good around here Not a good idea at all...We are already overdue for one hanging and you seem like such a nice guy... :-)

But it was WORTH it. I revelled in, absorbed, inhaled and filled my eyes with all that masculine gorgeousness until I was stuffed. It has to last me for a while. NOW AND FOREVER was the first picture, and I had obviously not seen it in so long that I had confused it with another Shirley Temple vehicle in my mind. I forgot how little she was, really just a wee babe and next to Gary she looked like baby chick! Ha! There was one cute scene where she throws her arms around his neck after he tells her he's her daddy and she cries "My Daddy!" I kept thinking there isn't a girl-creature in the universe who wouldn't have claimed him for her "Daddy" ---even if their real father were standing right beside them. The audience REALLY lapped up the second feature, which had a little more comedy, one of my favorite pre-codes: NO MAN OF HER OWN. They even applauded at the end of it, which I have only experienced with New York movie audiences rarely and only at old movie showings! Man, oh, man! I think I need another cold shower after writing this review!

rohanaka
NOW AND FOREVER Wow April....that sounds like a movie I may wanna see, just from the little Shirley moment you described...tell me more. Sounds like you had a very nice evening....I am still so jealous of you getting to see classics on a big screen....still just dreaming of that out my way. (and PS...yes I did make it through MOST of Rio Grand...though I drifted off a couple of times...I made a comment to you about it on the western ramble) :-)

But it is sweet, Gary is the most relaxed I've seen him not to mention GORGEOUS. It's on DVD and possibly even VHS so you might check your library. > Sounds like you had a very nice evening....I am still so jealous of you getting to see classics on a big screen....still just dreaming of that out my way. > It's a privilege that I'm grateful for, it almost makes living in NYC bearable. Film_Fatale
It's a privilege that I'm grateful for, it almost makes living in NYC bearable. Yup. I'll bet the same goes for L.A., but with nicer weather.
rohanaka
It's actually kind of dramatic, not one of her more light hearted entries Actually that would be a plus for me....I think sometimes she was a little TOO sweet...although now I will likely get a bag load of hatemail from the Shirley Temple Police. I will check that film out and likely end up adding to my wanna see list (yet again) FF--I LOVE The Little Princess.
Film_Fatale
*FF--I LOVE The Little Princess.* It is an awesome movie, I was so happy when Fox Video released an official DVD, because that one is also in the public domain.

Miss Goddess: "It's a privilege that I'm grateful for, it almost makes living in NYC bearable." Miss Goddess that's not very complimentary to NYC. We've got a lot of good things going for us here. We're luckier than most being here. You might owe Bloomberg an apology. And I've got to get my butt over to the Forum. I'm doing such a disservice to Lombard not seeing her on the big screen with an appreciative crowd.
Bronxgirl48
Goddess, is there a feline version of STRANGERS ON A TRAIN? Where all the cats are looking left and right at a toy on a stick, but one kitty is staring straight ahead? No, I'm perfectly sober. That's what scares me.
