Conversly, I believe the soft gold wouldn't compete with the wall coloring and could also be flattering, but not overpowering. So, we'll see! > > Are you going to try to have all of this done before Christmas? No, the carpet will take about three weeks they say, for the ordering, processing, who knows what.... rohanaka
Hiya Barb... I want to hire you to come to my house and help me pick out new carpet this spring...I am keeping my fingers crossed that we will get to that project sometime by then (that's the plan anyway) And then of course after the carpet, there is the kitchen floor, and I need a new stove too...and oh wait...what about the wood trim...we need new baseboards...and there is also...hmm..I may have to build on another wing of my house if you are going to be staying long enough to help w/ all that too....how do you feel about cocker spaniels and five year olds??? :-)

Film_Fatale
No, the carpet will take about three weeks they say, for the ordering, processing, who knows what.... Well, there's still a good chance to get it done before the end of the winter. At least you won't be working on it during the sweltering heat... The feel of it under my bare feet, plus it's quieter when you're living in an apartment building. But the expense for a place I don't own puts me off. I know what you mean. My mother owns her condo, but she's only getting the bedroom and the den carpeted, because her living room has vinyl flooring that's she's keeping. (I don't know why; it's UGLY) I hope Ashling will be hospitable to the idea of replacing my own carpeting. I have a very small condo, so I think she'll agree. I would love a soft gold. Yes, Mom's excited, but will be even more so when the sofa bed is purchased. (we haven't decided on THAT color yet)

Bronxgirl48
I was just interrupted by a knock on the door. Mom came by with two bags of just popped corn. I asked her why she went to the trouble of making it, and she says she drove to Albertson's to get extra, then went home and popped up more in the machine for me. She just left. What am I going to do with this woman??? She's supposed to be resting her feet and relaxing, but when I advise her of this, she just shrugs: "What do you want me to be, a hermit like these OLD PEOPLE?" Yeah, Mom isn't partial to Western decor or anything rustic, like I am. I adore lamps with cowboy, coyote, or horse silhouettes, and all that stuff, she thinks it looks "scruffy". Can you imagine?? I have year-round twig wreaths up on my walls, and for Christmas I put in sprigs of real pine (my favorite smell in the world; it's magical) and she still doesn't understand its tactile charms. We took some of those pop quizzes together and it always turns out that she's "Contemporary" and I'm "Classic Traditional", and apparently never the twain shall meet, although I do appreciate clean lines. rohanaka
Barb...diplomacy is a wonderful thing! :-) If it will help, I will give the little kidling a perm and teach her to sing On the Good Ship Lollypop. :-) Ha. Let me know what your fee is for an "extreme makeover, household edition" sort of deal...just don't bring any bull horns. I live in kind of a quiet neighborhood...the neighbors might complain. :-)

Bronxgirl48
Well, I actually do love kids, (I'm a sucker for babies) but I like them to have MANNERS! (this is my stern governess voice) Knowing you though, I'm convinced your little one is a doll and very well behaved. I know this sounds overly diplomatic, but I mean it. Speaking of Shirley, did you ever see her lookalike, Kim Myles, host of that HGTV "Myles of Style"? She's so cute, and she brings these bags which are magically filled with the entire decor of the house she's going to do over, LOL. Actually, samples of this and that to tease the homeowners with her great design skills. She did a FANTASTIC makeover to this couple's bedroom -- it turned into this cozy but sophisticated rustic lodge look (and decked out for Christmas). Of course, it helped the couple had a fireplace. No, no bull horns, unless I do Cecil B. DeMille or Eric von Stroheim impressions as entertainment on my 15 minute break. (I'll be a workaholic for you) Let me see, my fee....play matchmaker and introduce me to an eligible laird. Or give me a diamond tiara.

rohanaka
I'm convinced your little one is a doll and very well behaved She is a doll...but sometimes she reminds me of that Talking Tina on the Twilight Zone....she is a bit rotten when she wants her own way. (but aren't we all) :-) Actuallly she is a very energetic and enthusiastic kid....and usually well behaved but sometimes quite a handful. , Kim Myles, host of that HGTV "Myles of Style"? I haven't ever caught that show....will look for it sometime. (I love HGTV) I would love a sophisticated rustic lodge look but with our tiny house it might come off more like a sophisticated rustic "little log cabin" But....I'll take it. We don't have a fire place, but we do have this nifty little space heater that looks like a cast iron stove with fake glowing logs behind a glass door. It actually looks like a real fire...It is very cozy on a cold afternoon. (I know...fireplace owners all across North America are rolling their eyes at me right now going, "how pathetic is that??" :-) We are fresh out of eligible lairds in this neck of the woods...but we do live within about 10 or 15 miles or so of the one of the wealthiest cities in the wealthiest county over on the Kansas side....lots of rich doctors and lawyers and such....probably even a few pro-football players etc...Let me work on it.Could be there is a transplanted laird in amongst all that :-) PS...the only tiaras around here are thel ittle plastic rhinestone play ones...and you'd have to fight "talking Tina" for one of those.... Didn't you start a thread once upon a time about the Disney series *Dr. Syn* ? I am trying to remember where it was but I haven't got a clue. Did you get your DVD set already?
