cjrogan2003
Is it true that all teenagers in the 1950s were anti-conformity and loved to shock their parents by listening to Little Richard and Jerry Lee Lewis? I'm sure there were SOME teenagers who could not stand Little Richard's frantic piano banging, especially the **** BOP A LU BOP A LOP BOP BOP yelling. I'm sure that there were MANY teenagers who were not into premarital sex or voyeurism unlike like the kids of today. There had to be lots of them. I swear. littletramplover
Aldous Huxley said "The charm of history and its enigmatic lesson consist in the fact that, from age to age, nothing changes and yet everything is completely different." So... just like not every single teen today is into premarital sex and voyeurism, so it is true that in the fifties not every single teenager was one hundred percent out to shock their parents and non-conform... and please correct me if I'm wrong, but weren't the 1950s the decade of American idealism? And wasn't that ideal that everyone should be as much alike as possible? When I think non-conforming teenagers, I think of the 60s moreso than the 50s, yes, even with Elvis wiggling his hips! )
bggalaxy
cj: why does it always seem to be all or nothing with you? There was good and bad all through the ages. The more things change the more they stay the same. There is so much to living across the board (from the left to the right). Live and learn a little each and everyday.
