This is supposed to be a found farewell between Mr and Mrs Valentino. But some ole' habits must be rather hard to break? Lo! Watch those wandering hands there girl! Goodness me, after all your out in public! Act like a lady! Rudy renewed his romance with Pola Negri after this. Had a really good name for this shot, but it's French and I don't know how to spell it. Gerr! This was roughly 1925 I think.

Jeff, I am absolutely stunned by those two Valentino photos. I've seen "variations" on that Rudy & Natacha kiss-for-the-cameras at the Los Angeles train station, but not this one! It was Natacha's greatest performance, pretending she still loved him. She was, I believe, leaving for Europe to finalize their divorce, upon learning after the fact that he signed a lucrative contract with United Artists which banned her from the set, because she was such a nuisance. What a gorgeous MONSIEUR BEAUCAIRE still!

Even though, of course, this Rambova-inspired production was another nail in the coffin for Rudy's career...

Bronxi,

Good to hear from you. I can't take credit for the *Monsieur Beaucaire,* that is Bob Fells work not mine from Old Hollywood In Color. Com. Glad you like the Break-up shot. They look so enraptured in one another. and here she is actually leaving him.

The site where I stored many of my pictures GAOH on Ning Networks might be disbanded in about a month. I hope not, but the owner has been struggling health wise and the annual fee is fast approaching and it probably went up again. So it's possible that much of the links I have embedded here over the past several years will be broken. TCM doesn't offer any options on this board to replace old links. Can only hope for the best.

*Norma Talmadge And Gilbert Roland- "Determined Suitor"*

Hey, Jeff! I'm sorry I haven't popped in recently. Nothing you've done at all, it's just a glitch in my computer or maybe at TCM. Every now and then, I stop receiving notifications of my watched threads. Because I have several threads I keep track of, I sometimes don't notice that I am not getting any notices of posts. Or sometimes I think that people have stopped posting for some reason. It has happened everywhere else on this site, but never in the silents forum before. It just takes me some time to realize that the threads are still going strong without me.

I just ADORE the Monte Cristo slide, or lobby card! Etelle and John Gilbert look so breathlessly in love.

I also love that mother's day portrait and the Clara Bow wreath with Alan.... oh I've lost his name! Anyway, it's kind of fun seeing what I've missed over time. I like getting one big pile of pictures to look at.

I also love all the Dr. Jack stills, it's my favorite Lloyd picture.

Hi Gagman . . .

The photo with Corrine Griffith in 'The Spke of Life' does appear 'soft' like you made mention . . . but that's OK ... It's still a great picture. We can certainly see what she's doing to that punch! . . . (wink, wink)

And what a great shot of Valentino and Natascha ! I betcha hundreds of gals wish they were her @ that moment of time !

And that's an endearing picture of May McAvoy holding those tiny, white florets. Her 'bobbed' hair looks a little 'dry'. Could be from that antique hair curler they used @ that time.

And here's another 'lithographic' picture with a supposedly 'lost' or 'shy' Mae Murray posing demurely in front of . . . the background drawing is so 'Superb' ! . . . looks like it was done in Indian Ink.

And Harold and Jobyna look like they're 'missing' each other .... seems like each one is NOT knowing the other is there. I love the outdoor look and the color of the rippline water . . .

And I just love that long, silk robe, Norma Talmadge is wearing. It appears 'provacative' without revealing anything . . . And those 'spats' on a pleading Gilbert Roland ... that's a Classy touch !

Great photos, Gagman !

ugaarte, Wendy, Etc.

Good to hear from you again. Thanks for the feedback. Oh, and Happy Independence Day Weekend to everyone! I'll have to see if I can find some pics that fit the the occasion.

Meantime, I've been hanging onto this one for about 10 days. Must say, this lady looks mighty alluring upon passing out. Yipes! Not sure who that devious dude is hovering over her here, but I sure as heck wouldn't trust him in this compromising situation! No sir.

Well, at least this is supposed to be Joan, but I see almost Zero resemblance here? Really don't think that it is her. Does anyone have a clue as to who this actually might be? An interesting photo.

When Joan first started out, like the first year, she looked nothing like her future self, even through all her incarnations. It almost makes me wonder if she had a nose job, or perhaps there was an angle that she learned later not to be photographed from, to hide this little bump on her nose.

Here is another where her eyebrows and nose look somewhat similar to your p. It's marked 1921:

Hi Gagman . . .

Greta Nessen is certainly wearing the right kind of dress, is she wanted a lot of her legs exposed . . This photo has Awesome coloring in it, Gagman. Those floral coloring in the carpet are so rich and intense. Great shot !

And I'm in agreement with JackFavell about Joan Crawford. Her looks seemed like they 'evolved'. But she always had that 'large eye' look .... and her strong jaw line.

{. . .or perhaps there was an angle that she learned later not to be photographed from, . . . JackFavell }

That could very well be the possibility of what could have taken place. I think a lot of actors have gone through this 'one side' photo taking. I know in my own situation, I prefer the left side of my face to be taken rather than from my right side .... I can see a difference when it's taken like that. Other say they don't but I can feel the 'awkwardness' of it.

And is Eleanor Boardman is as Beautiful as ever. I love her Lace black Shawl.. I have to ask, though . . . Is that a picture on the wall ... or is it a decoration in her hair ?

Thanks Gagman.

Wendy,

Looks nothing like Crawford. 1921? No way that is to early and lady appears to old. Here is another photo that I actually posted a couple times but pulled because it lacked Ommph.

ugaarte,

Greta Nissen is totally forgotten now, but during the 20's was considered among the great screen beauties. I'm out of photos for the moment. Or pretty close to it. But I have allot of Lobby-cards I can get to. Including several for *THE MATING CALL.* I will look those up.

Hi Gagman . . .

That's an Awesome Photo of Lilliam Gish from 'The Scarlett Letter'.

The light blue dress really matches her blue eyes and the white her virtuosity.

And it's too bad that Greta Nissen has been forgotten, Gagman .... But she is extremely Lovely, especially as 'Norwegian Princess'. She possess great, Classical Features. Just Lovely !

And Betty Bronson appears as Sweet as ever in her gorgeous Pink dress and sheer shoulder wrap . .. holding a Boa Feather (?) . . .

I'm looking forward to seeing your Lobby Cards, too !

Great Posts, Gagman.

Thank you

ugaarte,

Glad you like the "Norwegian Princess" still. Only problem is that the photo is actually Esther Ralston and not Greta Nissen! The other two or Greta though. Can't believe that I did not recognize Esther. Now her eyes should be green. Sorry for the mix-up.

Hi Gagman ....

Though Esther does have some 'Regal-ness'

about her, happy.gif I can still see the similarities.

Thanks for that correction.

Regards.
