shockeddaddyzero
I was recording Tillie's Punctured Romance this morning and something went wrong with the broadcasting; did you folks see it? The image froze solid for MINUTES AT A TIME, more than once!
bansi4
I can expect that differculty from a film that was made in 1914. Mongo
shockeddaddyzero
This was a digital problem. The sorts of problems that plague surviving films from this era don't include the image freezing solid for minutes at a time. Something clearly went wrong with the digital equipment that was being used to transmit the image.
littletramplover
Yeah, you're right shockdaddy: I taped Tillie's last night (I don't own that on video, shock of all shocks!!) and I checked over what you mentioned and it was definitely a digital issue. I've seen that happen once before with TCM a while back (I think I was watching Gold Diggers of 1939) and the broadcast got interrupted for about five minutes. But hey, I'm not complaining-- in this digital age we live in things like that are bound to happen.
classicsfan1119
Being a new subscriber to a Satellite dish, and also living in the mountains of Montana, I have learned that if over an inch of snow sticks to my dish that various channels will start crumbling into megapixal squares as the satellite moves across the sky. So, if you live where it snow, be sure to check for show on your dish. I was taping that movie last night, too (even though I already have it on tape...whew) so that I could go to sleep and just leave the tape recorder running. I will not be pleased when I go to watch that tape now to see the rest of the Chaplin things that showed after it, if I also got many minutes of blank picture during "Tillie's....". Oh well. That's how it goes sometimes. Because TCM has "Tillie's Punctured Romance" I'm sure it will be shown again in the future (smile), so be patient and keep looking for it. classicsfan1119
Oh yes..."if you live where it snow, be sure to check for show on your dish". Good grief! Hopefully everyone figured out what I was meaning to say??? ML
nickdimeo
I think this may be a station malfunction. I had the same thing happen to me the other day when I was watching Pride of the Marines. The picture broke up into puzzle pieces and turned to black. I thought it was my digital box but I tuned into another t.v. in my house that just has basic cable and the movie still had the black screen.
