rosinryanz
CJRojan2003, I fail to realize why you have a chronic need to post frivolous, inane threads. I certainly is not boosting you populatiy around here.

kaneboop
It's a wonderful station. Name me another that shows old movies. AMC is not an answer.
brackenhe
You don't explain yourself, but that doesn't surprise me. This is only my 2nd post on this site but I've read many of your posts. You just seem sad and bitter to me. I'm sure you just upset that they are showing a few newer, more adult films than they used to, that's all. You need to lighten up just a little bit. I understand where you are coming from; it just doesn't jive with a true classic film lover.

bansi4
I have the Fox Movie Channel and it hardly compares to TCM. Although they show some classics they hardly scratched the surface with those films in their archives. And they tend to repeat all the films they show during the daytime again during the wee hours and into the morning. There is no host to enlighten us except for Robert Wagner (ugh) who narrates the old TV series "Hour of the Stars" which episodes are repeated constantly. I expected much more from a prestigeous movie studio that produced some of the finest entertainment of its time. Lets get into those vaults and feature those golden oldies and perhaps run different titles on a constant basis. I believe they have enough ammo. moviejoe79
Mongo - I completely agree with you about "Fox Movie Channel." I almost NEVER watch it, since it doesn't compare with the quality, variety, and class that TCM brings us. And you WOULD think that they would do a better job with the station, but I guess they just don't want to spend the money. You can see that the station is put together in a cheap way. bggalaxy
Again with the letter box. I "use" FOX about 6 times a month to get a movie recorded in letter box. possibly 4 other times to get a classic movie.
cinemetal
Does anyone have an idea how long Fox Movie Channel has been on the air? Perhaps it's still finding its legs, so to speak. I, for one, have been pleasantly surprised by its willingness to at least make some indication of classic Hollywood fare while covering newer features. In the past few months, I have recorded many obscure titles, including Call Her Savage, Just Imagine and Zoo in Budapest, to name just a few. I'd like to see more Janet Gaynor/Charles Farrell pairings and ANY silent film at all, but it's nice to be able to see CLara Bow AND HR Giger's Alien (letterboxed, to boot!) on the same channel. alix1929
I also was excited to record CALL HER SAVAGE, JUST IMAGINE, DELICIOUS, and ZOO IN BUDAPEST, and hope Fox will show more along those lines. The only problem is that they show their pre-Codes so infrequently that it's hardly worth it. In fact, I upgraded my satellite system to get Fox! If they were smart, they'd get in their vaults, dust off their obscure 1930's movies and let them see the light of day. TCM still is the best. professorecho
TCM is the greatest network in the history of television. I have seen films on TCM I thought I would never see in my lifetime and films I didn't' even know existed. It is a dream channel come true. That they are committed to showing films in their proper aspect ratio, uncut and without commercials is sublime. I am no pushover when it comes to being satisfied with something, but I see very little room for improvement with the way TCM operates. Show me a person who nitpicks every perceived flaw in TCM and I'll show you a person who doesn't understand anything about television or the history of filmmaking and who is, quite simply, a curmudgeon to be avoided. orson4ever
I have doubts that my cable provider will ever add Fox Movie Channel. But I was just wondering, is letterbox the standard with them, or are they like AMC, where they only show a letterbox version on late-night. I've been so happy to have TCM, with their respect for showing widescreen movies as they should be, at any hour of the day. TCM was also so generous with their Lon Chaney and Harold Lloyd selections, and I was especially grateful for their Italian neo-realist spotlight of a couple years back. I can't imagine TCM being much better than they are right now, and they're constantly surprising me with the new premiers they're always adding. Now if only they would reopen their merchandise store . . .
stellabluegrl
orson4ever ~ Yes, FMC does show many films in letterbox. In response to e-mails they have added a "Letterbox" page to their site. Here you can see which movies are to be shown in letterbox format every month. On the "Letterbox" page it says: "Fox Movie Channel brings you 31 LETTERBOX films out of a total of 98 films broadcast in February ? that?s nearly 32%!". As I've mentioned on here before, I recently added FMC to my channel line-up. I have found they air some great movies but the problem is every month they air the same movies over and over again. For example "Laura" and "Call Her Savage" are each being aired FIVE times in the month of March! That's just ridiculous considering all the FOX films they could be airing. Oh, and also wish TCM would reopen it's merchandise store!
movieslover1000
per Fox Movie Channel. The only movies they can show are ones leased to them by 20th Century Fox. They do not own any movies themselves.
