He probed and he probed, and never was found

The jewel that fell from the good Queen's crown

In this kitchen somewhere, I'll be danged if I know

Where things jounce and they bounce and jitter just so

Once I've bobbled and dropped, and kicked to and fro

Under cabinet and sink, one never knows

The reason a thing finds itself in the last place

I look is something I'll save and put in a book

But first I must find the jewel that is missing

Lest my Queen forbid me from kissing

Her hand or her arm or her face or her hips

My service to her will bring me no tips

So this roast I disect for me to inspect

In hopes my Queen's jewel will glisten

I 'spect it must be here, it just has to be here

This blade will reveal the truth that we all know

It's here in the last place, the last place to look in

The poor roast for dinner now, finding it here

Would make me a winner and bring me much cheer

Not so much as some wine from a dusty old bottle

Nor a new Duesenberg going full throttle

But maybe I'll find, once I foggy my mind

With the Merlot that's in this here bottle

The jewel has not lost, it has just fell behind

The Crown's low cut gown, and vanished

To places unknown and too deep to follow

A place that is royal, a place that is hallow

So farewell I must say to the jewel from the crown

A safe place it is in, of that I've no doubt

The King will not know, for it's there he'll no go

The Queen always slaps his eager old hand

Never mind it's wearing a gold wedding band

She slaps it and says "No no, I forbid!"

And there the stone stays, oh so well hid
