MilesArcher
In "Make Way For Tomorrow", Beulah Bondi played the mother of Thomas Mitchell. She was born in 1889, he was born in 1892.
FranklinPangborn
More recent and movie is very well known... FranklinPangborn
A few years later than NBN. The same year as the first movie however, same actress played Mom to a third actor who was only 12 years younger than she. A player in NBN was also in this third movie. MilesArcher
OK, Angels Lansbury, born in 1925, played the mother of Laurence Harvey, born 1928, in 1962's "The Manchurian Candidate". The year earlier, she played the mother of Elvis Presley, born 1935, in "Blue Hawaii". Also in 1962, she played the mother of Warren Beatty, born 1937, in "All Fall Down". The player from that movie and NBNW is Eva Marie Saint, who is actually a year older than Angela Lansbury. By the way, "Make Way For Tomorrow" has been shown on TCM several times and is well known to many message board members, judging from the discussion threads that it has generated. FranklinPangborn
Yes, Angela it is...I guess she had an 'old' face or something. I've seen MWFT twice on TCM - I think around Xmas each time. One of the saddest movie endings ever. I just thought 'Manchurian' is a much better known film. Miles' to play or leave.
MilesArcher
Oh, I'll play. In the same vein as the last question, there is a very well known movie where an actress played the mother of the male star, who was actually 11 years older than she was. This was a major movie and a major male star. Can you name the movie, the actress who played the mother, and the male star?

MilesArcher
Sorry, no. This actor had red hair, although the picture was in black and white, so you couldn't tell. He's an American actor. Edythevanhopper
The set of a 50's film had a famous nickname known to its cast and characters. That cast included an actor who retired from movies after that film. Another left that studio after 25 years. Film was an adaptation of a play. Its lead actor also starred in the play. Name the movie??
