vickisilverwolf
Thank you very much! The movie of which I'm thinking is one of a series of "B" mystery movies. (Something like the "Charlie Chan" series for example.) What makes it interesting is that it was the very first film adapted from a book by a famous writer of crime novels, who has since been adapted many times. For one point: Name the famous author For two points: Name the novel which was adapted (and adapted again, at least two more times, in later years.) For three points: Name the obscure "B" movie of which I am thinking.
vickisilverwolf
Not really on the right track. Think something a little more American, a little less cerebral.
flashback42
*Dante's Inferno* -- the 1935 one, with Spencer Tracy ???
vickisilverwolf
Interesting guess, but still on the wrong track. This is a deceased 20th century American author, still famous for his crime novels. The novel was the basis of another movie in 1944, under a different title, and again in 1975, under the same title as the novel. The movie I'm thinking about was made in 1942, under yet another title, and was the third in a series of sixteen "B" mystery movies all featuring the same fictional character, who had nothing at all to do with the original novel. lavenderblue19
1. Raymond Chandler ? 2. Farewell My Lovely ( made as *Murder My Sweet* in 1944 and *Farewell My Lovely* in 1975 3. *The Falcon Takes Over* ? (made in 1942) ?

lavenderblue19
Thanks. The cast of this comedy film decided that it was their mission to make this leading Oscar winning actor in the film laugh all during the making of this film. When shooting was finished, the actor told the director that he had the best time making this film than any other in his long career. Name of this comedy and the leading actor?? lavenderblue19
One of the cast members appeared in a film 25 years earlier with this actor. The actor that everyone tried to entertain on the set of the film the question refers to, won an Oscar as Best Actor for the film made 25 years earlier. lavenderblue19
Yes, the star studded cast of comedians all wanted to make Spencer Tracy laugh. Tracy loved it and as I wrote said it was the best time he's ever had on the set of a film. Good work finance, your thread.
