Thanks, *visualfeast* - I haven't seen *Split Second* - sounds interesting. What was it a remake of? I was thinking *Petrified Forest* because of the desert - but others come to mind that sound as similar...

Here's mine:

A bad guy arrives in a small town and makes himself known at the local saloon. He?s robbed, beaten almost to death and nearly dies on the prairie.

As the arbiter of justice in the town (which is "west of the Pecos"), the former crook becomes very powerful. The once corrupt town prospers and grows under his improvised brand of law and order and he manages to defeat various challenges to his authority. Though he has a woman in his life (whom he never marries), he has always been smitten with someone unattainable.

*cmvgor* - you are right again. We lately have been going back and forth. This is your thread and I've got the "10 clues" thread now (though it took 10+ clues this time). Congratulations.

*The Life and Times of Judge Roy Bean* (1972) directed by John Huston with Paul Newman as "the judge," with many, many others in supporting roles...including Ava Gardner doing a turn as Lily Langtry.
