name the movie

Well, it's not *Death Takes a Holiday* - death is not on a holiday in this one! Here's more...

Things do not go according to plan. The host turns up dead early in the game and it?s starting to look like the guests are in an Agatha Christie situation.

Yes, *visualfeast*, it's *The Last of Sheila* (1973) - written by Anthony Perkins and Stephen Sondheim - with James Coburn, James Mason, Dyan Cannon, Richard Benjamin - an ensemble cast - costume design by Joel Schumacher.

Good work - it's yours...

(You did an even better job at naming the movie than I first thought - I mistakenly posted one of the clues for it over on the "10 clues" thread)

Not *How to Succeed...* either -

This fellow has a knack for betrayal, doesn't seem personal or even intentional, he's just driven and people tend to get bruised one way or another. However, most of those connected to him end up doing just fine for themselves. Except for a pair that died.

Not *Sammy* - here's more -

Some friends/associates who betrayed by "the driven man" -

...one was getting nowhere till they connected and though he was later betrayed, he still ended up at the top of his field.

...another was in rough shape and though the man broke her heart, she became a big success through him.

...a third became celebrated in his field through his association with the driven man. In this fellow's case, though, his loss was very great.
