The Lady Eve
C, if you could pick only one of the two, which would it be? I?m only kidding, your first guess is correct, *Island in the Sun* with Joan Fontaine, Harry Belafonte, James Mason, Dorothy Dandridge and a gorgeous Caribbean island! Great job, your thread? cmvgor
Eve, had I been limited to one, I would have gotten it right. Next up: A serial killer, female victims.

cmvgor
Not *Copycat*. The police are slow picking up on the fact, until two detectives from different precincts meet and discover some similarities in their respective crime scenes.

cmvgor
Not *While The City Sleeps*. A task force is formed. Pooling info, they conclude that the perp is finding his victims in a 'lonely hearts' magazine Personals column.

cmvgor
Not *Lonely Hearts Bandits*. Further investigation shows that the contacts they found had involved entries that were expressed in poetry. Not the Rod Steiger opus either.
DownGoesFrazier
I assume NO WAY TO TREAT A LADY is also incorrect?
cmvgor
Also incorrect. That's the Rod Steiger opus I mentioned. At one point during the investigation, the detectives question and dismiss the person who turns out, in the end, to be the killer.
DownGoesFrazier
I assume we can also rule out Hitchcock's FRENZY.

cmvgor
New York City setting. In the opening sequence, before getting onto the serial case, the detectives successfully pull off a sting, roping in a crowd of bail jumpers and process dodgers. They send out targeted invitations to a "Meet the Yankees" breakfast, serve them some coffee and waffles, check I.D.s, and haul them off to arraignment by the busload. (No ballplayers ever show up.}
phroso
It sounds like SEA OF LOVE, but I thought the victims in that movie were men. [spoiler warning] The detectives begin with the belief that Ellen Barkin's character was a serial killer who murdered men she met through the personals, but we eventually learn that it was her ex-boyfriend?/husband? who was killing the men out of jealousy. DownGoesFrazier
cmvgor-----I know that you are very knowledgeable about classic films; yet you love to ask questions about '80s and '90s movies, which I know very little about. I assume certain others on these boards also don't know that much about '80s and '90s movies. Edited by: finance on Mar 26, 2010 2:42 PM

phroso
The gold rush, and a family of hillbilly thugs, create chaos in the town, not to mention a high turnover in the sheriff's office.
