cmvgor
Thanks, Lavender. Forgot the title, forgot the female star's name, just remembered the look on Garner's face as the convertable girggled slowly into the pool. Incest played for laughs. A teenage brother and sister realize they are hot for each other, and decide to take action. In a bedroom, for one afternoon, they indulge themselves. Speeded up action, clock hands moving fast fade-outs and fade-ins. In the end, they have exhausted each other and have satisfied their lust and their curosity. They have no need to do this ever again. Film? Performers?
cmvgor
The "keywords" space on this movie's imdb site makes a coy reference to "sibling relationship". The "Parental Guide" goes ahead and uses the stronger term.
cmvgor
The incident described is just one passage in an episodic film with a good cast and good ensemble acting. In another subplot, a character has issues that make her take refuge in the slogan, "Keep passing the open windows."

cmvgor
Late 1980s. Color. The film is quite true to the source novel. And the novelist has a deft hand with eccentric people coping with unusual conditions. The core family in this novel (and movie) are definately his kind of people. MilesArcher
Are you referring to "The Hotel New Hampshire"? It's a 1984 release with Rob Lowe and Jodie Foster.
cmvgor
Correct, Miles. Along with *The World According To Garp* and *The Cider House Rules* , a work of quirky humor, peopled with excentric New Englanders. A favorite of mine. To my regret, I did not do a Views count on this one, but it lasted longer Than I expected. MilesArcher's thread.
MilesArcher
Thanks. Do you know this one? A man who works as a commercial artist gives up the rat race life style in New York and moves to a small, but affluent town in Connecticut. All he wants to do is spend his time painting landscapes. The only people in town he befriends are the children. His wife loves the big city life style and nags him about his lack of ambition. One night at a cocktail party given by a neighbor, she has too much too drink and starts a very loud argument with him. He has to physically remove her from the party. The next day, she disappears. The neighbors think he did something to her. The whole town turns against him, at least the adults. The police start looking for a body. The local kids help hide him. Did something happen to her? Did he do it? Can you name the movie?
MilesArcher
That's correct, sixes. Carolyn Jones plays the wife. She does turn up dead, but, of course, Alan Ladd didn't do it. It was directed by Michael Curtiz, the very versatile director of "Casablanca", "The Adventures Of Robin Hood", and "White Christmas". It was shot in and around the town of Woodstock in northeast Connecticut. In fact, the house that served as Alan Ladd's house is quite famous. It is called Roseland Cottage and has always been painted a deep shade of pink. (The movie was in black and white.) The local historical society conducts tours of the house and it's rose gardens in the summer. They even hold tea parties for small groups there. If you're ever in the area, you should check it out. Your turn, Mr. Sixes.

MilesArcher
I saw it years ago. I remember that Natalie Wood played Jimmy Stewart's daughter. I don't have FMC. I wish I did. Jimmy Stewart was in another movie that involved a radio show jackpot. It was produced by a man with political connections, and it co-starred a leading actress and a popular swing band of the day. One of the members of the band, who had a brief on screen appearance, would go on to fame as an actor on television a decade later. Can you name the movie, the band, and the man who would become famous on TV?

MilesArcher
Yes, the movie also starred Paulette Goddard and was produced by FDR's son, James. Horace Heidt And His Musical Knights were a well known big band of the swing era and Art Carney was a member. Good job, finance. Your turn. cmvgor
Thanks, finance. The central thread of the several plots in *Detective Story* brings this movie to mind. Less well known. A teenage girl needs to end a pregnancy. In the timeframe of the story, and at the time of filming, that procedure is illegal.
cmvgor
That would have been my guess, but not *Blue Denim* . 1970s. Color. Her partner in the pregnency is not present in her life to help with this problem.

cmvgor
You're hitting nothing but homers today, Lavender. *To Find A Man* is correct. Early role by Pamela Sue Martin, and a rare non-comic role by Tom Bosley, serious and sympathetic as the abortionist. My attention to this film was caused by the fact that a person of interest to me, super undercover cop (and actor) Steve Allie Collura had an uncredited walk-on in the movie. Sad to say, when I saw it, I was unable to spot him. lavenderblue19's thread.
