sellyoulloyd
Missouri-born *Virginia Mayo* was a member of the St. Louis Municipal Opera when an MGM talent scout discovered her. Samuel Goldwyn signed her to a contract, but David O. Selznick thought her screen test showed little potential. Nevertheless, Goldwyn gave her a small part in 1943's *Jack London*, also with actress *Louise Beavers*.
