Oliver Stone's "W."

Recommended Posts

I hate to say this but alot of democrats tend to be not socialist but communist which is even worse. I hope you realize that the NAACP was founded by the communist party here in the USA. Every time the NAACP does anything "good" it's in the name of socialism or communism in this case. Every time a senator or representative gets an award from the NAACP it wasn't for their actions. The said person or persons had done something for the greater good of the communist party.

Oh, just so you know. The founder of the NAACP also rebuilt the Communist party here in America as well. Loads of democrats are members of the party.

Hi Matt,

That's a very good point...

The percentage the government takes from the sale of gasoline more than likely differs from state to state.

But I would bet the government's take is bigger than the oil companies.

You are so right about imbedded taxes. Corporations are in the business to maximize profits and increase the stock price for its shareholders or its dividend.

Price controls don't work either...I lived through that policy one time.

You are absolutely right costs will be passed along to the consumer. There are no free lunches.

Here is a site I found by briefly surfing the web.

I won't say it is the best but some facts might be there..

Have a great day.

Despite what television says, what Hollywood says, gay is not okay. I was flipping through the channels and what do I see on just about every channel on Directv. Gay men having sex and lesbians in bed. Nothing makes that okay. Now I will probably never watch tv again because there

is too much flagrant sin to see. The boob tube has now officially become porno television night and

day no matter the channel.

>FF wrote...Why does the U.S. sometimes appear to be the only Western democracy where a significant part of the population assumes that capitalism and egalitarianism simply must be mutually exclusive? Because in some other capitalist countries, they aren't.

Will you please show me a capitalist country that has Egalitarianism? Does not exist. It would more than likely be a socialist country like Sweden or Norway--both socialist countries.

Recently, it is interesting to see countries like France and England abandon some of their socialist policies and adopt more capitalism.

The U.S. is not a pure capitalist country, either,

If Milton Friedman were here, I think he would agree with me.

Gad. You really needed to go there? As if that has any bearing on any conversation currently in progress in this thread.

Haven't you figured out there are many gay men and lesbians in these Forums? Probably more than you have seen on DirectTV.

You said I was apologizing for Bush. Well, you're wrong. I am defending his honor. You know he didn't do the things that you people said he did. And if I were you, I would take a serious hard look

at Nancy Pulosi. I hope you realize she blocked the media from entering the last meeting of congress. I'm talking about the emergency meeting they had to try and discuss the oil issue before going on vacation. When the meeting was Pulosi blocked all cameras and newsman from getting inside. There's talk of a possible prosecution because she overstepped her authority. And this story was on all channels liberal and conservative. ABC had it, NBC showed it, CBS did a story on it, and Fox covered the whole thing. You can't deny this and there is no justifying what she did.

But Mr. Cheneys private meetings were OK.

RIGHT????

I don't see the left or rights tactics as any more honest as the others.

Many people would consider Canada a more egalitarian country than the U.S. Also, I don't believe Sweden is a socialist country; it is home to many competitive companies like Volvo, Ericsson, Electrolux, etc. As for Norway, last time I checked they also had a market based economy.

I never said anything of the like to you...

I suspect maybe someone has taken your name and playing a joke here...

I think it is pretty clear what my politics are about...and it is not like Nancy Pelosi's...

You wanna know the truth? Everyone on these boards makes me sick to my stomach having to listen to your kinds's lies and dodging the truth. Just as bad as most politicians.

I wasn't addressing you. I was addressing that guy several posts back who called us Bush-apologists.

Socialist countries do have industry and market goods and services...

It's the tax code where many of its citizens do not even take home 50 percent of their earnings because tax money is used to fund all the goodies for its citizens.

That's my definition of socialism...

Source Wiki...

The typical worker receives only 40% of his income after the tax wedge. The slowly declining overall taxation, 51.1% of GDP in 2007, is still nearly double of that in the United States or Ireland

You may be right. This member never had the type of spelling errors previously that is common in their posts over the past few days.

(But it might also be a reaction to the medication this member is taking.)

Which goes to prove my point, that you can have capitalism and egalitarianism. And if you think anything "socialized" is a bad thing, does that mean you reject socialized education and socialized law-enforcement?

Anyway, regarding the actual thread topic, what does everyone think of the teaser poster?

Kyle,

Jewell was never charged, but he was never arrested or imprisoned either. They suspected him and had him under surveillance if I remember correctly until they found he was innocent. But then again, Waco Janet was running that show.

I never heard of anyone being investigated because of the books they check out of the library. They only go after that info once a person is already suspected of something and they have probable cause. Maybe if an Arab or emo teen had nothing but a long list of those types of books they've taken out, a concerned librarian may drop a dime on them. Really, the disinformation society has created a lot of paranoia about this stuff.

But if you buy any Yanni CD's, you're going straight to Gitmo.

Oh boy. Well, at least I threatened Rush (tongue in cheek), not him.

:D

Then again, thats what "My kind", whatever that means, likes to do.

Oh well. Politics and this board don't mix, as I've found out.

And as a centrist that runs issue to issue, I'm everyones bogeyman.

To each his own.

I favor home schooling to the public schools today...

Government has to provide a police force which upholds the Constitution and enforces the law and maintains order.

I never said I was a full blown Libertarian who believes in no government at all. I have in the past said government serves a role.

You are splitting hairs. Admit it: you are a socialist and that's OK and your right to be one.

Anyone who supports the idea of taking more and more of the citizens' money in the form of taxes and then through a command and control government redistribute the wealth as it deems beneficial to its citizens is a socialist, sorry.

I want the government to take as little as possible of my money and let me have the freedom to spend or save it as I please.

It reminds me that I have to get my shoe soles redone.

Has Josh Brolin gotten to the point where he's billed above the title? I just get a kick out of his being cast as Bush and the fact that his father once played Reagan.

You just demonstrated how thoroughly you've misunderstood my position. I believe in egalitarianism within a market society, I never said anything (even remotely) about higher taxes.

There really is no socialism left in the 21st century. Even Russia and China have adopted market economies, and Cuba is gradually doing so. Which is just great, imho, because I do believe a market economy is the best option for economic development and growth.
