Oops, Guess My Barbara Stanwyck Photo Was Deleted

Well, it appears my thread entitled "Racy Barbara Stanwyck Photo" proved too racy for TCM Administrators. I've been away from the boards for about 15 hours, but I can't find it anywhere. Thankfully, I don't seem to have received any warning points. It was not my intention to distribute "pornography!" Not that I actually a believe a semi-nude female pic of a woman just sitting there and staring at the camera is in any way pornography. I figured if it was innocuous enough to not be deleted by Facebook, it was okay for here. But I was wrong. I find it sort of amusing that a 95-year-old photo from the actual Ziegfeld Follies is deemed too racy from the message boards for a network that loves to show us movies about a fictionalized, less racy version of the Ziegfeld Follies. Appreciate the irony as you will. I also find it sort of ridiculous, but America remains to this day a country that's really uptight about non-pornographic presentations of the body, while virtually all depictions of violence pass with a PG-13 sticker these days.

Hope the people who got to see it enjoyed it. Perhaps I should have titled the thread "Favorite Recipe for Gazpacho" or something. It might have survived a little longer without being censored.

I guess I'm not very observant. I didn't realize there was any exposure. Well, we'll see if this thread survives now that you've posted that!

You can see her n_pple in the uncensored photo. Probably why it was deleted.

There's a half-second of Jean Harlow bare breast in Red-Headed Woman.  There's a scene about 15 minutes in where she gives her roommate (Una Merkel, if memory serves) the nightgown she's wearing, and just before the cut, you can see Harlow isn't wearing a bra.

And TCM has shown Ecstasy and Mahogany before, among others.

Really. Americans seem to be the only culture in uproar over a nippo.

Heh.  Yeah, I once wrote a treatise that was a list of things that made one "American".  Explaining that being an American citizen was a good thing, but being "American" was an entirely different state of mind.  And on that list was this........

Americans will turn a blind eye or think it OK that their children spend hours watching cartoons or play video games in which the "hero" shoots, stabs, blows up or beats up their opponents. But GOD FORBID they should see TWO SECONDS of JANET JACKSON'S t i t!

I also mentioned that child rearing "mavens" and groups like the LA LECHE LEAGUE are OK with Mothers pushing a breast in their kid's faces even up until the age of 4 or more, but PLEASE don't let 'em SEE one on TV or in a movie!  :o

I don't think Harlow ever wore a bra.

Bette Davis and Myrna Loy both posed for nude statues. It would be nice to see some of those.

And I've seen a very artistic nude photo of Joan Blondell. Even though a lot of her is covered up, it doesn't leave a lot to the imagination.

There's just no accounting for American Pilgrim culture. LMREO

Sad, but true!  I forget what Myrna posed for. Isnt it in LA somewhere?

I've seen a photo of a naked Joan (not so artistic), and believe she was a bit of an exhibitionist. I always found this scene from Gold Diggers of 1933 mighty impressive. (I really like the way she brushes her hair).
