musicalnovelty
Hi Mongo: Tomorrow, April 8 is the 83rd birthday of one of my favorite movie girls: Shirley Mills. I know you're the man who can do it. Can you find and post some nice rare picture (or pictures) of Shirley that I've maybe not seen before? I'm a long-time fan and have collected many pictures of her, but you always do such a great job on this thread, I'm sure you can find something! For anyone perhaps not familiar with Shirley, here's where to find info: http://www.shirleymills.com/ http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0590189/ HAPPY BIRTHDAY SHIRLEY!!

Kim1607
Thanks for that picture ElusivePimpernel. He was just so handsome even in that hideous jacket. Do you know what year that was? His hair looks a little grey.

musicalnovelty
Mongo; Thanks for finding those pictures of the charming Miss Mills and remembering to wish her a Happy Birthday. I "Shirley" appreciate it. Even when playing the bad girl (which she did so well in such films as "The Underpup", "Young People" and "Five Little Peppers in Trouble") she was always a joy to see. And if TCM could show more Universal pictures, her great dancing skills could be seen by everyone in the several early 1940's musicals she did with the Jivin' Jacks and Jills group, along with stars like Donald O'Connor, Peggy Ryan, and Gloria Jean. Perfect clean fun family entertainment. It is really a shame that to be able to see them you need to know a film collector or settle for poorly copied bootlegs of these wonderful films. Then, for Shirley in a serious role, it didn't come more dramatic, and ultimately tragic than "None Shall Escape" (1944), a Columbia feature that TCM showed a couple years ago. And she handled it well. Happy Birthday Shirley!!
bansi4
You are welcome, musicalnovelty. The remainder of today's birthdays are posted above.

bansi4
Catwoman, Here are detailed instructions for posting pictures to the TCM message boards: 1. Add the picture to your "My Pictures" folder on your computer (either by scanning the picture in or copying it from the internet or an email, etc.). 2. Go to www.photobucket.com and set up an account. It is free and quick. 3. Click on the "my album" tab near the top right of the screen. 4. Under the text where photobucket invites you to "Upload Images & Video," click the "Browse ..." button. That will open your "My Pictures" folder. 5. Select the picture from your "My Pictures" folder you would like to add, then hit OK. 6. Click the "Upload it." button on the photobucket page. This will add the photo to your photobucket album. 7. Scroll down the page until you see the picture. Below the picture there are 3 windows: A "Url" window, a "Tag" window, and a "Img" window. 8. Select all the text inside the "Tag" window, right-click, and select "copy." 9. Go to the TCM page, and paste the text you have just copied into a TCM message. 10. In other words, simply copy and paste the contents of the picture's "Tag" window into your TCM message, and the picture will show up after the message is posted (but not as you are editing your message). You can click TCM's "preview" button to see what the picture will look like. 11. In your TCM message, you can type text above the picture tag. However, you will need to type after each paragraph of text, and between the text and the picture, if you want your message to have paragraph spacing. It took me a while to grasp it (pactice). Good luck! Joe aka Mongo
