lavenderblue19
Yes and thanks. Laurence Olivier had said that William Wyler taught him how to be a film actor in *Wuthering Heights* . Olivier's stage experience had him overacting and projecting his voice as if on stage. Mr. Wyler taught him this was unnecessary in films. Your thread. emgee1
Thank you; that's really surprising cause this is what is said on IMD": Laurence Olivier found himself becoming increasingly annoyed with William Wyler's exhausting style of film-making. After yet another take, he is said to have exclaimed, "For God's sake, I did it sitting down. I did it with a smile. I did it with a smirk. I did it scratching my ear. I did it with my back to the camera. How do you want me to do it?" Wyler's retort was, "I want it better." maybe in hindsight he was thankful for the advice. lavenderblue19
Yes imdb does have that info - IT ALSO has this information- "Lawrence Olivier credited Wyler with teaching him how to act on film. during the shooting of *Wuthering Heights* (1939) Wyler constantly heckled Olivier after many times with such epithets as "Lousey" when Olivier asked the notoriously uncommunicative director he replied "Stop trying to reach the 3rd balcony of the Manchester Opera House" "Oliver curbed his tendency to go over the top and won his first of 10 Oscar nominations for the role. Olivier had contempt for the movies, BUT after working with Wyler he developed respect for the medium." You might want to consider reading IMDB on William Wyler for this information. davezarn
Cool! In this 1930's film, the actress had to shave off her eyebrows. They didn't grow back and she wore false eyebrows from then on. Actress ? Film ? DaveZ
