lavenderblue19
Thanks Terrence for thinking about this one, just read the clues and think about a '60's film that fits, the 2nd part of the question will be obvious if you know the film

davezarn
lavender You sure it was made in the 60's and not late '50s? Thinking of one that may fit except for the decade filmed. ? Thanks! DaveZ

lavenderblue19
New clue- In the film, one of the actors the question is about performs a few magic tricks, while the 2 actors( again the stand-ins and 1 of the actors) are sitting across from each other at the table Repeat of clues posted 1960's comedy well known film Takes place in Europe 1 actor known for brilliant comedic performances (question is about him) 1 actor also known for directing, writing producing (question about him) 1 was British 1 was American Great music score ( some big hits) A lot of cameo performances the scene has them sitting across from each other at a table Question is 2 actors in this film hated each other, so much so that stand-ins replaced them for the scenes that the 2 were in together and filmed on different days, so they didn't have to see each other Name the 2 actors and this film ??? MilesArcher
The clue about the magic tricks did it for me. It's got to be Peter Sellers and Orson Welles in "Casino Royale" (1967). Welles was an amateur magician.
lavenderblue19
Thank You, Miles. Knew the magician clue would finally nail this one. Try to make these questions not too challenging, but not give it away either. Here's the reported story Princess Margaret visted the set, Sellers who knew her greeted her in a grand manner so that everyone would notice. She walked right by him went over to Welles and made a big fuss over Welles. Sellers stormed off the set and refused to work with Welles again. It's also been suggested that Welles was insistent about doing his magic tricks during their scene together and Sellers objected and that was part of the reason for the rift between them. In the scene that they were suppose to be together at the gambling table, stand-ins were hired. The scenes were shot on different days a stand-in each time on those days so Sellers and Welles did not see each other. The *Casino Royale* theme and *The Look of Love* the Bachrach/David songs were huge hits as everyone probably recalls. So yes,the *1967* film *Casino Royale* is the film and Peter Sellers and Orson Welles are the 2 . Thanks again Miles for sticking with it
DownGoesFrazier
Sellers and Welles had never crossed paths before?
lavenderblue19
Ask them! LOL As it happens Sellers recommended Welles for the part, the point was that, that incident on the set of *Casino Royale* is what caused their not getting along. Whether they crossed paths before how would I know? That has nothing to do with the question I posed here, which by the way since you're the self proclaimed musical guy , how did you not recgnize the answser by the clue of a great music score with Big hits? didn't see you even venture a guess. Miles, it's still your thread
DownGoesFrazier
Because I didn't see it prior to the correct answer? I'm not on the boards 24 hours a day eagerly waiting for the next clues.
lavenderblue19
I posted that music clue yesterday at 8am. You were on the bds after that. yesterday and today. My question was answered today. So, I guess you can't be bothered reading our clues, eh? Why should we read your clues then.? 2 can play at that game. lavenderblue19
Yes, and I didn't think your jokes on that thread were funny or appropriate. I'm now too pre-occupied with other threads. MILES YOUR THREAD
MilesArcher
I'm actually kind of entertained with the back and forth between you two on these boards. It's very similar to an old radio show with Don Ameche and Frances Langford called "The Bickersons". However, if we must move on, here is a new question. Gene Kelly danced in a movie with his brother. What was the movie and what was the name of the song that they danced to?

lavenderblue19
In this film, this actress was so intensely involved in the scene, she related the scene to a terrible real life experience she had. Once the scene was completed, she fainted. Production had to shut down for a few days while she recuperated. Name the film and the actress??
