midwestan
Thank You Miles and Finance. I'm blushing, lovely compliments next Her husband did not want his wife, this actress, to star in this film, he felt it might tarnish her image. She insisted and they were both glad she did. Name the film, the actress and extra bonus points for her husband's name ??? Irving Thalberg didn't think Norma Shearer should play the role of Geri in "The Divorcee", thinking it would be too risque for audiences and too risky for her. Just a guess on my part. midwestan
That's an excellent guess and correct Guess you watched the intro to THE DIVORCEE on TCM Friday night. Welcome to the trivia threads Midwestan. Your turn to post a question or you can leave the thread open, your choice Guilty! Had it not been for thunderstorms that cancelled the high school football game I was going to watch that night, I never would have known....anyway, here's my offering. This Canadian-born actor received his first screen credit in "Too Many Wives" in 1937 with Anne Shirley and Gene Lockhart. Like many other of his contemporaries, he transitioned nicely into television in the 1950's. His last big-screen credit came in 1962 in "The Bramble Bush", which co-starred Richard Burton and Angie Dickinson. Who was this sometimes likable and sometimes dis-likable mug? starliteyes
These 2 male stars appeared in 2 films together, but they couldn't stand each other. In the first film, neither one of them was the top-billed star. By the time they made the second film some 15 years later, they were both major stars. Name the actors and films. MilesArcher
How about Humphrey Bogart and William Holden? They were in "Invisible Stripes" in 1939 and "Sabrina" in 1954.

MilesArcher
Well I'm back now. Here is a question that is near and dear to me. As you probably know, Miles Archer is the name of the partner of Sam Spade in "The Maltese Falcon". There was also a character named Miles Archer in a western. In the western, he was the leading character. Can you name that western and the actor who played him?
lavenderblue19
Guy Madison played Miles Archer in THE CHARGE AT FEATHER RIVER
MilesArcher
Yes, it was made while Guy was starring as Wild Bill Hickock on TV. I don't know how they got that name past Dashiell Hammett unless he gave them permission. It was a Warner Bros, movie. Two Saturdays ago, on September 6th, The Encore Western channel ran an old rerun of a "Cheyenne" episode where Warner's rehashed the plot for the episode with Cheyenne leading a group of soldiers right from the guard house in a mission to rescue two women who had been kidnapped by Indians. I believe they even used footage from the movie in the long shots. It's your turn, Lavender.
lavenderblue19
Thanks Miles A famous actor fell in love at first sight with this actress in real life. He asked her to co/star in his next film. She got the part and they were joined together in holy matrimony a short time later. Who were the 2 and the first film they starred in together ??? lavenderblue19
Gregory Peck not only starred in he also produced CAPE FEAR. The novel the film is based on was titled THE EXECUTIONERS. Peck disliked the title. He felt films with locations in the title were successful, he looked at a map, found Cape Fear, NC. that's how the film got it's title.
