DownGoesFrazier
The connection that comes to mind is Burt Bachrach and Hal David. B-J Thomas ( can you believe the censor bleeped out B-J !!!!! sang Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head for the Butch Cassidy and The Sundance Kid movie. Gene Pitney sang The Man who Shot Liberty Valance another song written by Bachrach,/David although the song was not used in the movie, and Gene Pitney sang Town Without Pity, Pitney also had a big hit with 24 Hours toTulsa, another Bachrach/David song, since Tulsa was a clue ? That's basically it. Prior to connecting with Dionne Warwick, Bacharach/ David di a lot of writing for Pitney. Your turn.
lavenderblue19
A famous scene in this 1940's movie caused this actor to be constantly stopped by fans asking him to do this for them. Film, Actor and what did the fans want him to do???
starliteyes
The first thing that came to my mind was Paul Henreid lighting Bette Davis's cigarette with his in Now, Voyager. Could that be it?
lavenderblue19
It is it. Female fans after seeing NOW VOYAGER, constantly stopped Paul Henreid on the street, and asked him to light 2 cigarettes for them! Good thinking Starliteyes, your thread

No, this movie came out the year before By Love Possessed with 2 major stars who were both Oscar winners. I thought I remebered reading that BY LOVE POSSESSED was the first and also COME SEPTEMBER were the first films shown on TWA inflights. so I looked it up on imdb and that's also what info is there???? Sorry, don't have another guess.
starliteyes
Well, lavender, I must admit this is indeed confusing. You certainly are right about By Love Possessed and Come September being cited as the first in-flight movies on the imdb. The movie I was looking for was Inherit the Wind, which the imdb also cites as the first in-flight movie. Given all these options, I would have to say you're right and the thread is yours. lavenderblue19
Thanks Star That is confusing. Guess we can't believe everything we read on the internet. next In 2 films this actor played a character who had the same name in both films. The films are unrelated in plots, however this character winds up having the same position. Actor and 2 films???

DownGoesFrazier
These commercials ran 1970-1980's and the actor was paid to do them. I think your clue may have been posted on the wrong thread.

starliteyes
I have a feeling this isn't right, but I'll take a guess anyway. James Gleason as Max Corkle in Here Comes Mr. Jordan and Down to Earth? Or Edward Everett Horton as Messenger 7013 in the same 2 movies?
lavenderblue19
Sorry, different actor and films and thanks for the guess Starliteyes It's a political office this character has in both films (not a real life politician)
starliteyes
Now I'm thinking it's Brian Donlevy as McGinty in The Great McGinty and The Miracle of Morgan's Creek.
lavenderblue19
And you'd be right. Brian Donlevy did play McGinty in the Miracle of Morgan's Creek and The Great McGinty. He was a governor in both films. Both of course written and directed by Preston Sturges. Good thinking, Starliteyes, your thread
starliteyes
This future star of westerns was once hired to coach Gary Cooper in a Virginia dialect for The Virginian. He also played a bit part in the film. Who was he?
lavenderblue19
I'd guess Randolph Scott, since he was born in Virginia?

lavenderblue19
Thanks Star During a Doris Day movie, an actor who starred in a tv series appears in a scene. lavenderblue19
Sorry, not him or film. In the scene he's sitting at a bar, then the music from his tv show begins for a few seconds. Very popular tv show, so the music is very recognizable
