MilesArcher
I waited for someone else to get this because I already posted about this some months ago. Nobody has so here goes: Raymond Burr played a character named Steve Martin in "Godzilla, King Of The Monsters!" which was shown on TCM a few days ago. It was, of course, a Japanese movie, but all of Raymond Burr's scenes were filmed in the U.S.

MilesArcher
Thanks. Continuing along the same line, the character name Steve Martin was used by a well known character actor in a biopic in the forties. Can you name the actor and the movie?
flashback42
The other fictional Steve Martin was the "clarkkent" name of _The Durango Kid_ , portrayed by Charles Starrett in *The Hawk of the Wild River.* :Backatcha: Name the actor and TV series hero who was the villain in that piece. ?? That would be Clayton Moore, "The Lone Ranger" himself. Cheers, Dan

MilesArcher
We find something new all the time. The Steve Martin that I was referring to was the character played by William Demarest in "The Jolson Story". He played the same part in the sequel "Jolson Sings Again". Still Dan's thread. cujas
Miles--And in "Variety" the advert read: "Steve Martin and His Cello are at liberty." And it's still Miles' turn--
MilesArcher
Thanks. This actor was supposed to succeed Roger Moore as the new James Bond, but he couldn't get out of his contract for a TV series that he was in, so the Bond role was given to Timothy Dalton. Who was the disappointed actor?
MilesArcher
Yes, It's Pierce Brosnan. He was doing the TV series "Remington Steele" and couldn't get time away until the series ended. Luckily for him, Timothy Dalton didn't want to be typecast, and only did two Bond films. You're up, sixes.

The ones that stand out, at least to me, are "The Gay Divorcee" (1934) and "Top Hat" (1935). In both films, the Astaire character is mistaken by Rogers for someone else, for most of the movie. Also, Eric Blore, Erik Rhodes and Edward Everett Horton were in both films. Cheers, Dan {font}
DownGoesFrazier
Many other things about the two films were also similar. Your thread, Dan.
daneldorado
Who is the actor that loudly proclaimed, "I defeated Spider-Man!" An incredible boast, surely.
