lavenderblue19
Darn! I thought of Tammy after I posted Gidget, but decided to just leave it. When I was in kindergarten and the song Tammy came out, I use to sing the song and make believe I was Tammy! Good thinking lana

lavenderblue19
During an intro on TCM for an early 60's film, info about an actress who was married to a Warner's leading man was given. It seems that when he passed, he had left debts. The star (another leading man) of this 60's film knew about this actresses financial problems and secured a role in the film for her. She's a lovely, tall actress with a beautiful singing voice. A femme fatale type. Can you name the actress, her husband and the generous actor who helped her out???
lavenderblue19
This actress did not sing in this film. The film had an all star cast , it's been remade with sequels. The actress appeared in a film shown last nite on TCM. One of the films shown in the Danny Thomas tribute.

lavenderblue19
Yes,Yes,Yes!!!! skipper Patrice Wymore,Errol Flynn's wife. Frank made sure she got the part to help her out. Did you happen to catch her in the Gus Kahn bio last nite? She sang Love Me Or Leave Me to Doris Day!!!!!! I think her voice sounded great. Of course she was Adele in *Ocean's Eleven* tormenting Angie Dickinson and throwing ashtrays at Frank. Beautiful woman, and good for Frank for his kindness. Great work, mr. skip- your thread. mudskipper
Patrice Wymore couldn't have been too poor...Flynn had left her a 2,000-acre (8.1 km2) coconut plantation in Jamaica, as well as a mansion and a cattle ranch. After her retirement she returned to Jamaica, where she opened a boutique and wicker furniture manufacturing business. She continues to be active in Flynn's estate. Next: Before winning two Oscars, this actor played a Filipino freedom fighter... Movie? Actor?
lavenderblue19
Yes, I read the same info on imdb about her inheritance. However, the info I used for the question was given by TCM. I'm sure it will be repeated at some point. Flynn died in 1959, Oceans 11 was filmed in 1960, maybe it took a while for his estate to be settled. CarolAirey
Her first daughter was born mentally **** because this actress contracted measles during her only appearance at the Hollywood Canteen--the uncredited inspiration for the plot of the Agatha Christie movie The Mirror Crack`d (1980). DownGoesFrazier
Three of this director's best-known sound films all starred the same actress. Director? Actress? The three titles?
DownGoesFrazier
It was only 3 of his best-known films, not 4. I actually should have specified that it was an American director. Hint: All 3 films were late-'30s or very early '40s. Edited by: finance on Sep 17, 2011 12:00 PM

DownGoesFrazier
Let me be very specific. This director did not have very many well-known sound films. The three with this actress were close to the only ones. Wyler had many, many well-known films aside from the 3 you mentioned. Another hint: Two of the three films were from the late '30s. The third was fropm the very early '40s. Edited by: finance on Sep 18, 2011 3:13 PM
DownGoesFrazier
Still another hint: In perhaps this actress' best-known film, she co-starred with James Stewart. Edited by: finance on Sep 20, 2011 1:54 PM
allaboutlana
Just to clarify: In other words, this actress made three well-known sound films for the same director in the 1930s and also made a film with James Stewart, which may be considered her most well-known film, and was not for the same director. Is all that correct? And, did she act in silent films also? I will guess Elizabeth Allan! for some more information and answers. Thanks.
DownGoesFrazier
No. She did not act in silent films, but the director directed many silent films. Her best-known film was with Jimmy Stewart, but was NOT made for this director. However, of the 3 well-known films she made for this director, at least one of them also co-starred Jimmy Stewart. You should get it now. Edited by: finance on Sep 21, 2011 3:24 PM
DownGoesFrazier
No. Let me reiterate. An actress starred in three of the very best- known sound films of a particular director. Two were in the late '30s, and one in the very early '40s. The director had directed many silent films, but the actress had not appeared in silent films. The actress was also very well-known for her co-starring roles opposite Jimmy Stewart. Director/ Actress? The three films?
