MilesArcher
Thanks, sorry for taking so long. Now, early in their careers, Roy Rogers and Lon Chaney Jr. appeared in a movie in suport roles. Lon played a henchmen for one of the villains and Roy played a not too bright singing cowboy. Can you name the movie and the main star? Yes, it was a western. mudskipper
"The Old Corral", starring Gene Autry, had Lon Chaney Jr. as one of the villains. Roy Rogers, who fought with Gene in the movie, played one of the O'Keefe brothers. The brothers were all played by members of The Sons Of The Pioneers. lavenderblue19
A late 40's film was about an entertainer who hit bottom in their personal and professional life. It's been said that the story was based on the real life of an enertainer who was married to a singer and screen legend. Name the film, the entertainer the film is based on and who was this person's famous spouse???
DownGoesFrazier
SMASH-UP, THE STORY OF A WOMAN? Dixie Lee? Bing Crosby?
lavenderblue19
Yes. Based on Dixie Lee and Bing Crosby's time together. I find Bing's life so fascinating. His alcoholic wife Dixie Lee and all the terrible stories some of his children have revealed about his abusive behavior to his family and yet his enormous talent, religious beliefs and his other family kids saying he was a good, kind dad. Such a complicated man. Good work, your thread. Edited by: lavenderblue19 on Nov 15, 2011 6:27 PM
DownGoesFrazier
Name 2 films in which Clark Gable played a character with the same three letter shortened first name. What was the name? DownGoesFrazier
I will have to give you the thread, but before you take it, can you give me a more unusual 3-letter shortened name that Gable had in only TWO films?

DownGoesFrazier
You're using a first name for one and a last name for the other? I was thinking of "Vic", which was his name in THE HUCKSTERS and MOGAMBO. Go ahead.
cujas
The most famous "****" in film history. Yes, a female actress Hint: Dot Malone In "Written on the Wind" is the all-time, albeit, Academy Award Winning runner-up.
DownGoesFrazier
Are you talking about one film? For body of work, Barbara Nichols?
cujas
You know, I mean one classic and legendary performance. (As for Barbara--she was a professional stripper and a floozy--not really a ****. She was cheap, but if you look at her performance in *The Sweet Smell of Success*, she had some standards that put her out of the **** category.) cujas
The character in this movie is described as being such and needing help-- and the film is one of the classic noir of all time, bar none.
lavenderblue19
Before you posted this last clue I was going to take a guess, not so sure now but here goes, I'm thinking about Ava Gardner and Rita Hayworth. *The Sun Also Rises* and *The Killers* for Ava and *Blood and Sand* for Rita Then there's always Rhonda Fleming as the **** in *Spellbound* and Jane Greer in *Out of The Past* .Of course there's always Gloria Grahame in *Sudden Fear* .I think your question could leave some room for interpretation. they were all pretty loose in these films. cujas
This character is unique because she is the prototype for a genre and really the movies--rich girls, very bored and always very drunk. Hint: Film Noir classic (per Ava--I don't think she was a **** in "The Sun"--she was just trying to forget about her problem with Ty Power--and Ty Power is hard to forget no matter what his "situation" would be.) lavenderblue19
You got that right- my heartrob was and is Ty. You know Rita was also the idle, spoiled rich tramp in the film. Oh well, what fun to get great roles playing rich trampy girls!
