lavenderblue19
OK, I agree. Period. LOL It's one of my very favorite noirs. To me, one of the best uses of black and white. *Sudden Fear* is on my wishlist for films to be shown. A nailbiter. This director didn't want these 2 actors to get along. He got his wish. They couldn't stand each other. 1 of the leads was a seasoned actor, the other was a younger man. Film, director, 2 actors???? DownGoesFrazier
MR. ROBERTS? Cagney and Lemmon?
lavenderblue19
No. It was Fonda and Ford that didn't get along on the film *Mr. Roberts* . I can't imagine Jack Lemmon not getting along with anyone, especially James Cagney. The film is based on a Pulitzer Prize winning novel.
FranklinPangborn
Is Bogart one of the actors?
lavenderblue19
Sorry, neither one. They are both Oscar nominated actors, one of them for this film.
mudskipper
James Dean and Raymond Massey in Kazan's "East Of Eden"?...(but I don't think the novel won a Pulitzer Prize)...
lavenderblue19
You're right on all counts. He didn't win for East of Eden . I meant to write it was written by a Pultizer Prize winner. James Dean, Raymond Massey and Kazan are correct. Dean and Massey couldn't stand each other and Kazan encouraged their dislike for each other, hoping it would help their performances. Your thread. mudskipper
In the James Bond movies, 007's boss was always referred to as "M", except in one film where they revealed his name. Which Bond movie was this and what was his full name ?
lavenderblue19
Admiral Sir Miles Messervy, I think the Miles part of his name was first revealed In The Spy Who Loved Me, but his full name was revealed in The Man With The Golden Arm ?? mudskipper
Close enough. It was "The Man With The Golden Gun", with Roger Moore and Christopher Lee....Your thread, Lavender.
lavenderblue19
Ha,Ha. I'm glad you have a sense of humor. When I posted that TCM had just run that Nancy Sinatra blurb on Frank, and a scene from tGolden Arm was shown. LOL So here's one about 007. When RO worked for The Hollywood Reporter he interviewed the producer Broccolli. He told RO what his 3 favorite Bond films were. Can you guess what they were, without looking for them? lavenderblue19
Two of the films are with Connery, the other with Moore.
mudskipper
I don't watch Robert Osborne or TCM that much, but I'll guess "From Russia With Love", "Goldfinger", and "Moonraker"...
lavenderblue19
Your 2 Connery guesses are correct. *Goldfinger* and *From Russia with Love* . Brocolli's otherfavorite Bond film was a different one. Want to guess again?if not I'd say it's close enough and the thread is yours.

daneldorado
Island in the Sun (1957) was produced by Darryl F. Zanuck, and starred Joan Fontaine and Harry Belafonte. The other inter-racial couple in the film was Dorothy Dandridge and John Justin. Cheers, Dan
daneldorado
Thanks, Mister Sixes... What famous silent screen star is said to have owned a pet tiger, and promenaded with it down Sunset Boulevard? Cheers, Dan
lavenderblue19
Pola Negri?
daneldorado
lavenderblue guessed that Pola Negri is the silent screen star that promenaded about with a pet tiger... and he (or she) is RIGHT!!! Even as I was reading that startling stat from one of my silent screen books, my mind was churning. How the hell did she keep the beast from attacking strangers? What kind of liability insurance did Pola carry? And would a modern screen star be permitted to even OWN, let alone parade, a beast of prey in the city? My guess is that no, they wouldn't be allowed... but that wouldn't stop some of the more audacious stars from trying. Anyway... lav, it's your thread. lavenderblue19
That must have been quite a sight. These 2 future Oscar winners worked together in the same office, before they were famous. The eventual winner of the Oscar for Best Leading Actress suggested to the other that he become an actor. Who were these 2 ?
lavenderblue19
They worked together in London.
