mudskipper
Who were "Mr. Mumbles" and "Mr. Baldy" ?
CarolAirey
{size:14px}Hi, muddy. We're both still up late. Sinatra had a longstanding dislike of Marlon Brandon from their days working together in *GUYS AND DOLLS (1955).* Frank{size:14px} always felt he should have played Brando's part (with Gene Kelly {size:14px}in the other role) so he nicknamed Brando "Mr Mumbles" (to my mind, a very accurate nickname for this picture). Brando reciprocated and called Frank "Mr Baldy." Sounds like no love was lost between these two!
mudskipper
I guess we're both night owls... Although Frank probably still had in mind the three musicals he made with Gene Kelly, he might have been right in thinking Gene would have been better in the Sky Masterson role instead of Brando....I just can't see Brando dancing and mumbling in a musical... CarolAirey
We've all heard about how disgruntled the stars were with the studios putting them on suspension when they turned down what they felt were unsuitable roles. The time spent on suspension was then added to the length of their contracts. When this star's contract ended in the early 40s, said star reportedly ran down the streets of the studio yelling, "I'm free! I'm free!" Who am I? lavenderblue19
Good question. next one: This Oscar winning screenwriter/director said that one of his well loved films(he wrote and directed this film) was based on the experiences an actor had in the 1930's. That actor was not in the film I'm referring to. Name the writer/director, the film and the actor who was the inspiration.

lavenderblue19
You got, fiance. Sturgess was supposedly inspired by John Garfield's experiences in the 1930's. Garfield lived the hobo life for a while, including hopping freight cars!!!! Love Sturgess, *Sullivans Travels* and Garfield and that story about him. Terriffic finance. Your thread. DownGoesFrazier
Nazis and Hitler are not particularly funny, but there were at least 3 famous pre-1970 film comedies whose subject matter was exactly that . Name 3 or more.
