There's even a "view" for Bronxie.

My sweet Ralphie in THE PROFESSIONALS? Please tell me he doesn't play a sheep killer or something.

> You and CineMaven should watch The Professionals. I think you might find it entertaining, even though it's a real "action" western. There is still camaraderie and friendship and Robbie ( :x ) is playing another of his "sweetie" roles (he cares gently for horses, just like Ben...it's a real Ben Johnson role, actually).

This is one you recommended for a more benign Bob, but thanks for the action-label "warning", because you're right, I don't normally like these kinds of films. And I can't believe Ralph is part of the cast (and what a cast!) But then again, I was shocked to see him in ROSEMARY'S BABY.

Because it's such an "action oriented" movie, it's not quite a huge favorite, but it's

grown on me with recent showings on Encore. You might not like it much, but

would probably find it more entertaining than Once Upon a Time in the West. :D

Whew, that's a relief! Let me see....he's probably a docile old rancher in love with Claudia and wants to make an honest woman of her, like Charles Bickford with Jennifer Jones in DUEL IN THE SUN. No? Don't tell me!

So once again I decided to give BUTCH CASSIDY AND THE SUNDANCE KID another chance.

I got through "Raindrops" with gritted teeth, and "The fall will probably kill you", etc. but the worst was yet to come: more music: "****-**** dooh, ****-****-DOOOOO, ****-****, dadada-****.........."

I screamed at the t.v.: "GEORGE ROY HILL I LOVE YOU BUT I'M SHUTTING OFF THE SET RIGHT NOW! I DON'T CARE HOW GOOD PAUL AND ROBERT LOOK, IT'S OVER!"

Bronxie,

Next time you take a run at *Once Upon a Time in the West* try watching for Jason Robard's character, Cheyenne.

It might help make the film more watchable. It did for me the first time I saw it. Of course, back then that was the edited version where Cheyenne just disappeared towards the end of the film with no explanation.

Now at least, his character has some closure.

*Now if you can give me some tips to get through BUTCH CASSIDY AND THE SUNDANCE KID..*

If it helps, enjoy it for the chemistry between Newman and Redford. It's a western with a '60s twist. Ignore the '60s stuff (especially "Raindrops") and try to enjoy it as the story of two men who have run out of time and are out of place but can't give up their wicked, wicked ways.

I think I'd like this movie better with Errol Flynn. (he could play both parts)

(sigh) Okay, I'll give it another shot, and see if I can ignore the "grooviness".

I can't tell what Ralph is thinking there behind his baby blues, but he still looks good to me!
