No! I really liked it a lot when I watched it, but I was more into the characters and look of the film, than the plot.

I love the way the settlers are shown building and celebrating, it was all very

colorful and realistic.

> It's such a leisurely-paced film about nothing all that significant, then it flips a crazy switch and I'm left wondering why. I guess there are times when we are not only held accountable for our actions, but so our others. In one case, the crime of one is about the one. In another, the crime of one is about all.

I don't have any idea what that could mean.

HA!! That made me laugh. "Evil ox" about describes 40% of his roles.

She's got two guys dying to marry her, she's in a great spot!

Oh, no! We're in Wagon Master country!

I don't have any idea what that could mean.

That's because you fast-forwarded through the film, just looking at the pretty colors as they went by! Now I know how you've "seen" so many films!

He's really on the big galoot side in this one.

She's got two guys dying to marry her, she's in a great spot!

Not really! The one she wants is elusive and seems to have his eye on another woman.

Mighty good place to be. Why don't you sit a spell? Kick your shoes off.

That's right!

I remember more now that you posted those caps. Yes, he was obnoxious as all get out.

Was the other girl interested in someone else?

He didn't even take his money seriously. If I remember right didn't he just hand over $5000 without flinching?

You've got it. George tells Lucy (Susan Hayward) that Logan gambles just as much as he does. And he does. Even at the end, Logan is headed back to San Francisco to get a loan, ala George and his "loans."

No! You've got some potent spells!

Yes, he was obnoxious as all get out.

That's your guy!

canyonpassage3.jpg

As you can see, he's being chased by Quiet Gal.

Was the other girl interested in someone else?

She had another suitor but I believe she liked Logan the most. However, what she wanted out of life isn't what Logan wanted. She knew the two weren't meant to be.

:P I throw them in free with Ro's Fresh Rope Special.

HA!! You're right, he's YOU! Yellow livered as usual. :P

That's right! I thought it was something like that. And that was good observing about

Logan and George and the "gambling". I didn't catch that, either.

I know better! There's nothing free with you!

HA!! You're right, he's YOU! Yellow livered as usual. :P

We all must play our part! :P

And that was good observing about Logan and George and the "gambling". I didn't catch that, either.

Talking about the film is helping me figure things like that out. Cowboy Chris is actually the one who really pointed it out.

You should get an Oscar!

You both made a good observation. I don't remember it clearly enough, but I know

I didn't think there was that much difference between George and Logan, so their

conflict didn't seem strong enough. Maybe that's what Bond was there for, to

stir up conflict. Could be the script wasn't that great.

In the biography I read about the producer, Walter Wanger, he was hoping to

replicate the success of Trail of the Lonesome Pine. Interestingly, the

two leading men in that movie are not dissimilar, either, and they are involved

with the same woman.

Logan is stronger and more confident than George. Or so it seems. Each has their obsessions.

Maybe that's what Bond was there for, to stir up conflict.

He's definitely there for that. I never really felt Bragg's hate had a deep meaning, which causes it to fall short with me.

Could be the script wasn't that great.

I believe so. It just kind of went along and went along and then it ends ugly. But the reasoning wasn't that fulfilling to me.

Now that's rather fascinating. The way you talk about the look of Trail of Lonesome Pine does help to link the two. There's no questioning the beauty of Canyon Passage, visually speaking. It's one of the most beautiful westerns that I have seen.

Interestingly, the two leading men in that movie are not dissimilar, either, and they are involved with the same woman.

And there are two triangles in Canyon Passage.

As you can see, he's being chased by Quiet Gal

Hahahahahahahahahahahaahahhahahahahahahaha and HA! Very funny. :P And PS: I would NEVER throw a rope on sweet little Wardy... I reserve my hangings for only the most vile offenders... such as: _______ :P

Wasn't this the film that the producer Walter Wanger { he also produced "Stagecoach" } wanted John Wayne and Claire Trevor to star in. They declined. The song Hogy was singing "Ole Buttermilk Sky' took the Oscar for Best Original song that year.I hadn't seen it in almost 40 years and was surprised it was in color.....

Chalk one up for the biggest doofus here , Ro!

Oh, my poor little fellow "doofus". ha. You have been hanging around ME too long and now I am starting to "infect" you w/ my "doofy" ways. ha. Maybe we can both get lucky enough to find a copy of this movie soon so we can watch too. Hang in there, kid. Doofy is only occasionally "debilitating" but so far does not seem to be "terminal" ha. :D

Listen, at least you did record it, Jackie, I had rented it, liked it a lot, and then

when it came to TCM I didn't bother to record it. I hope you both get to see

it one day, it's a handsome looking film (but I still think Trail of the Lonesome

Pine has it beat).

You are putting the spurs to me!

Pleas, folks, I don't want to interrupt the conversation on Canyon Passage. Or Trail of the Lonesome Pine. I will watch Tall T over again tonight, as a refresher, but please feel free to ramble a bit more on the other films - I would hate to stop the flow.
