Film_Fatale
I'm going to be watching *Dirty Money* later today, and I thought I'd look for a Jean-Pierre Melville thread in the noir/gangster forum, but I couldn't find any! So, what's your favourite Melville movie? Mine would definitely be *Bob Le Flambeur*.
MrHoneywell
Ah Melville! I just love Moby Dark. Haw, haw haw!
ChiO
I've only seen four: Bob le Flambeur, Le Samourai, Army of Shadows, and Le Circle rouge. Liked each of them, but *Le Samourai* is the tops for me -- mystical crime noir.
Film_Fatale
Just watched *Dirty Money (Un Flic)* and it's a great gangster movie, with a very good cast: Alain Delon, Catherine Denueve, Richard Crenna. The train/helicopter scene seems quite memorable, even though they obviously filmed with a limited budget and almost certainly used models for many shots. Also, it's Melville's last movie. Film_Fatale
Last week saw the release on DVD of another great Melville noir, *Le Doulos*, which stars Jean-Paul Belmondo. This is a great noir which constantly keeps you guessing as to the protagonist's true intentions, and I do think it's a fairly unpredictable one. The black-and-white photography is absolutely gorgeous, and it goes without saying that the Criterion transfer is first-rate.
Film_Fatale
Finally watched the other Melville film recently released by Criterion, *Le Deuxi?me souffle*, which is also pretty awesome, even with a longer, 150-minute running time (the time flies when you're watching this movie). A great movie you won't soon forget. B-)
MrHoneywell
Is this the one with the whale?

HollywoodGolightly
I think that might have been another Melville. Now that I have seen Classe Tous Risques, I am very eager to revisit some of Melville's movies, especially Bob le flambeur, probably one of his best.
