The subject came up in another thread and I was hoping there'd be enough people interested in the new DVD of *Touch of Evil* to merit its own thread. I haven't had a chance to watch it yet but I did read a pretty promising review in Variety - here is a link if anyone's interested:

It sounds like one of the major differences between the alternate versions of the movie has to do with the opening credits - and I happen to think the opening shot works best without the on-screen credits.

 

I've heard some encouraging things about the Rosenbaum audio commentary so I am definitely looking forward to hearing that in its entirety. B-)

I agree with you. And this is what Orson wanted it as well...but it was a battle he lost.

I got the chance to tape the re cut of this film and it's documentary on the re cut........it makes for an entirely different film. Might have to get the DVD.

The new DVD includes a reproduction of Orson's original 58-page memo... it's a very interesting read. B-)
