Ghost Sign

I thought classic movie fans here would get a kick out of this:

Here in Los Angeles there is an old movie theatre, still up and running, called the Fairfax. If you go to the alley behind the theatre and look up at the building you can see a ghost sign on it, you know one of those old original painted signs on the wall that have faded over time, but if you squint you can still make out some of it? This sign gives an indication of the when the theatre opened:

"THE FAIRFAX THEATRE! GLORIFYING THE ALL-TALKING MOVIE!"

I love trivia like that especially about old movie theaters. I used to haunt the neighborhood (NABES) theaters in my youth and although some of them were falling apart in was still movie heaven to me.

Sadly just about all of them are gone now especially after the advent of TV however I still have those memories and some old newspaper movie ads from those theaters. Good stuff.

That's awesome. I love when old buildings and old landmarks are preserved in those ways. Some intentional, and some completely unintentional, just like that. Imagine how grand the country would be if the entire country had the mindset of preservation rather than "out with the old, in with the new." Many streets of many towns would be as immaculate as some well-preserved streets of NYC.
