DownGoesFrazier
Paraphrase "My parents rarely hit me. I think they hit me once. They started in December 1942 and stopped in the spring of 1944". phroso
Woody Allen, and I think the movie is BANANAS.
DownGoesFrazier
That's the one. Your thread, phroso.
phroso
Thanks, finance. Great movie. Next line: "If they move, kill 'em."
phroso
OK, the quote was a little too generic. Here's a clue: The line is spoken by an Oscar-winning actor in a Western which put its director on the A-list.
phroso
This is tougher than I thought. Another clue: The actor was the best man at the Ronald Reagan/Nancy Davis wedding. The director died shortly directing an all-star adaptation of a Robert Ludlum novel.
cujas
William Holden in *The Wild Bunch* directed by Peckinpah?
phroso
Wm. Holden in THE WILD BUNCH is correct. He says it shortly before the opening shootout. Nice work, cujas. The board is yours . . .
cujas
Thanx--and now the line: "Of all the cities in the United States, he would pick Philadelphia."
cmvgor
Has this got something to do with W.C. Fields?
cujas
Yeah! I picked that one instead of: "Phil, PA? Yeah, on Sundays it's PU. Tomorrow is Sunday, and Mr. 6, it's all yours! Edited by: cujas on Jul 31, 2010 5:27 PM
DownGoesFrazier
Not true. The blue laws were abolished years ago. Everything is now open on Sundays, just like everywhere else.
cujas
Fi--I don't know what Ginger Rogers was referring to in *42nd Street*. But I believe the year was 1933. Mr. 6--"Come & Get It!"
mudskipper
"How Green Was My Valley."...At the beginning of the book, Huw Morgan was packing his clothes to leave his beloved Welsh Valley...The sequel, "Up Into The Singing Mountain" continues his story in Patagonia, Argentina...(Maybe that's one of the reasons they gave this movie the Silver Condor Award in 1943, although in itself it is a great movie, winning the Best Picture Oscar in 1942)...For those who have not read the book, I think it's better than the movie. mudskipper
Thanks. Next: " Lord, why do you make me love him so much only to be hurt by him bad ? Why ?" Hint: Musical..

mudskipper
"Cabin In The Sky" is right. ..That was a great number--"Taking A Chance On Love". with Ethel and Rochester.. ..and I wish we had more movies with John William Sublett dancing. I think he was in the same caliber as Fred and Gene, if not better...Your thread.
