Smiles7392
I am looking for the names of two movies. The first is almost like the great escape, but in black and white, and the main guy escapes with a girl on a train. The second is about a girl who is a dancer or singer and meets a guy at a casino or bar and he pretends he is poor, but owns a ranch outside of town. slaytonf
If with the first movie by saying it's like The Great Escape (1963), you mean it takes place during WWII, and involves an allied soldier escaping from German captivity, then try 36 Hours (1965), with James Garner, Eva Marie Saint, and Rod Taylor (not sure if it ends up with Garner and Saint in a train, tho): http://www.tcm.com/tcmdb/title/91392/Stella-Dallas/ click on the READ THE FULL SYNOPSIS button for an extended description. Smiles7392
I found out the 1st movie was called “The Password is Courage”. If anyone knows the 2nd movie, I would appreciate it.
TopBilled
The second one reminded me of UNTAMED FRONTIER (1952).
Defenestrator
The second one reminds me of "Where It's At" from 1969, with casino owner David Janssen not being able to break through the generation gap to connect with his son Robert Drivas. I don't remember Drivas hiding his relationship to his dad from Rosemary Forsyth in the story, but that may have happened early on. I haven't seen or thought about that movie since the early eighties at least.
Sgt_Markoff
The first one sounds like that Richard Widmark movie, it has a couple titles because of release location and adaptation issues...but ultimately comes from the Alistair McLean thriller, 'The Secret Ways'. One of its other titles is 'Frontier ...something)' The second request might be...'The Princess and the Cowboy'? Lee Major TV movie? Or that movie with Glenn Ford, 'the Rounders' (something like that)?
slaytonf
The second movie may be Texas Carnival (1951), with Esther Williams, Red Skelton, Howard Keel, and Ann Miller: http://www.tcm.com/tcmdb/title/446/Texas-Carnival/ Though for some reason the TCMdatabase seems to be malfunctioning right now, so you can't get a full synopsis. You can also try Wikipedia.
