Hello I'm new here. I realy need some information on the JUDY GARLAND SIGNATURE COLLECTION. All signs point good towards it. Its released by WARNER BROTHERS so thats a good sign, it was on the same release date as the five new releases (april 6th), and it even has four of them except MEET ME IN ST. LOUIS 2 disc of course plus other movies. I'm usualy very weary about boxsets sometimes though because what if its versions of poorer quality that maybe wb wants to use. You want them all to be restored, uncut, nothing altered and A STAR IS BORN (which is included in the collection) to be letterboxed. Do you think theyre the same ones that you can get individualy? Its at amazon but not tcm or movies unlimited which was strange to me. Any information will be greatly apreciated. Also I saw where there are many versions of the 1937 A STAR IS BORN and all the descriptions say that its in b&w. I thought that movie was originally in technicolor. Thank you.

I would think that all of the movies in the Judy Garland collection are the same ones that were released individually. Warner Bros. is very good about offering high quality, well put together DVD's, and I would be shocked if they released poorer quality movies as part of a boxed set. I think that after they restore and release a film on DVD, it is the same all around.

As for "A Star is Born" - you're right, it was filmed in Technicolor, and I haven't checked recently, but I know I've seen original Technicolor DVD releases of it. The only problem with that film is that its in the public domain, so all of the prints of the film are poor quality, since no studio has restored it. But keep looking, because I know it's been released onto DVD in it's original Technicolor. Check out the website www.deepdiscountdvd.com - they have a large selection, and good prices.

Thank you so much. Yes I was worried about them being bad prints. As for the 1937 title lets hope wb will release a good version of it along with other David O. Selznick movies (especially technicolor ones) and a collectors edition GONE WITH THE WIND.
