Hi everybody! I'm watching "Jezebel" for the first time right now, and am just wondering what your thoughts about this movie are. I'm thoroughly enjoying Bette Davis in her role as Julie, and the movie is great! I'm puzzled as to why people seem to be blaming her for the Yellow Fever epidemic, though. I'm sure I've missed...or...misinterpreted something.

I recently taped (from TCM) and watched this one too and thoroughly enjoyed it. Of course, I love Bette Davis, regardless!

In either case, I don't remember Julie (Ms. Davis' character) being blamed for the yellow fever, though I do remember her manipulating a tragic duel between two of the men (one was George Brent) in the film while she was trying to spite her former fiance (Henry Fonda) who showed up at her plantation married to a Northerner.

You can read almost the entire film at - http://www.filmsite.org/jeze.html

Great movie and music too from Max Steiner. Of course everybody knows that Davis won the Academy Award for this role. The legendary behind the scenes with William Wyler info are detailed in the book Inside Warner Bros. Also, the music of Bette Davis films is out on an RCA Victor CD called "Classic Film Scores for Bette Davis"

I also love Steven Spielberg for purchasing Davis' Oscar and returning it back to the Acdemy in 2001!!!!
